The cause of pad squeal and dust is Brembo.
I am probably going to go with Girodisc Magic pads. |

How long do we expect the pads/rotors to last? I am debating the 3/36k maintenance that covers brakes/rotors/spark plugs for $850. Just not sure if I will actually replace any of those things before 3/36.

A lot of stop and go traffic, using Active Cruise control a lot, or aggressive driving with DSC fully on.

For what it's worth, my buddy's F87 M2c had horribly squealy brakes, to the point he didn't like driving it. Took it to the dealer a couple times which didn't do anything too fix it.
So I decided to lend a hand and see if just pulling the pad, cleaning up the calipers, and relubricating the pads would do it. For his car this did the trick and solved the noise issues. Could be worth a shot on the G87 if they become unbearable. |

Dont wadte your time. Its just the result of the car coming with Brembo pads. They bite real good but make a god awful mess with their dust and uncontrollable noise. |

Still under 1k miles, was getting low-effort squeal for the past week. Like somebody else said, really only notice with the windows down.
Went for a nice coutry drive today. Zero squeal the whole drive. I think the car just gets pissed at being stuck in traffic. |

I am only at 550 miles, but no squealing yet with red calipers. Almost exclusively back road mountain/hill drives.

I'd imagine that under normal driving conditions the pads and rotors to last well beyond the 3/36. I replaced my pads with iSweep 1500 at 1,200 miles. Stops as well or better than oem, no noise, and virtually no dust. Pads for all 4 was ~$600. Re: spark plugs, those, along with brake fluid are covered under the free maintenance program.

2021 M2C owner here with the same squealing issue. Mine has 11,000 miles now and once it started, maybe in the first 2000 miles, it has never completely gone away. I live on a deserted road, so I'm able to run up and down the road and do hard stops from 50 mph or so. That helps. It does minimize the noise, if not eliminate it, but only for a week at most. And of course it creates a ton of brake dust. I have done 3 track days, and the squealing mostly went away for a week or so after each one.
It could be my driving habits. Or it could be luck of the draw. I have a friend who had a 2021 F87 like mine and now has a 2024 G87, and he said he never had the squealing issue with the F87. I live in a small beach town where the speed limit is 25-35 mph with lots of pedestrians, stop signs and traffic lights. 90% of my daily driving is within the town limits, so most of my braking is light application. I don't buy the argument that all cars with big Brembos will squeal. I had a 2018 Camaro 2SS 1LE with 6-piston Brembos that looked a lot like the M2C brakes, and I never heard a single peep out of them in the 3 years I owned that car. Same driving habits. I'm so fed up with the squeal that I am considering a G87 upgrade, even though I love the F87 otherwise. I hoped the G87 had fixed the issue, but then I saw this thread. Last week, I made an appointment with the local BMW dealer to have them check the brakes and see if anything could be done. As expected, the service manager told me it was normal for M cars. But surprisingly, the tech drove it, confirmed the squeal, then cleaned the rotors, sprayed something called SBS spray on them, re-bedded the pads, and said it was better than it was when I came in. And it was/is better. It's been a week, and I have heard a couple very minor squeals, but it is no longer happening at every stop sign. I Googled and see that SBS spray is a generic name for a spray that supposedly stops brake squeal. When the noise comes back, I'll probably buy a can of SBS, spray it on, and hope for the best. See attached report from the dealership.

My neighbor has two M3's, an E90 and E36. He affectionately calls them both "old squeaky".
I told him he should consider changing to a less dusty and more road service (versus light track) pad and he just laughed and said no thanks. It does help us tie our blue BMW M cars together in the neighborhood

Because I don't know what to use. Can you suggest a good replacement that doesn't squeal in daily driving and could do one track day per year?

It has been popular. For track day, I would recommend throwing the stock back on.

I counted 6 brake pad threads on the first 2 pages of this sub-forum. I recommend the iSweep pads. I have the 1500s on both my M2 & my wife's X3MC. Virtually no dust & zero noise.
