2015 Porsche 911 GT3 or Turbo S, which would you buy?
Based on my other post, I tend to agree with 90% of those that responded that the GT3 is likely a more preferred car over the MB GTR...... but how about the Turbo S vs the GT3? Not to track but as a weekend car, to enjoy with my son. The GT3 is more raw, kind of like my Z06 but AWD and 0-60 in 2.8, ceramic brakes, more luxury has me thinking. Your thoughts? Thanks!

Actually, I'm going though the same decision process.
I'm leaning very heavily toward the GT3. I currently want the light weight buckets and they weren't available in the turbo. Or at least I haven't seen any. The GT3 has a much better "feel" than the Turbo. The Turbo is an incredible car and you can't really go wrong with it. In the end it really comes down to evaluating what you want from a car and then you'll be able to make your decision. |

Do you track? Do you want a more subtle wing or an attention getting one? Do you care about all out speed and 0-60 or do you prefer better handling and feel? I personally would go Turbo S because I won’t be tracking it often and don’t like big wings in general.

Our current car setup is my DD which is an S8, so I have traveling in comfort covered. My wife's DD is an X5. It's not bad on the highway either and allows us to carry a little more stuff than the S8 will carry. My play car is a 360 Challenge Stradale and hers is a 991 C2S Cab. Neither of these cars gets driven much and I'd like to combine them into one car. Hence the GT3 - Turbo debate. Actually the Boxster Spyder keeps making an appearance so it's not been 100 percent ruled out. Two cars that have stayed in my mind are my RS America and my 3.6 Turbo which I relate to today's cars with the GT3 and the current Turbo. Although the older cars will be hundreds of pounds lighter with much better steering feel, and I had considered going back in time, but I really like the modern day conveniences of the newer cars. As an owner of a Z06 I think/hope you will appreciate this statement. These modern day cars make so much power, and are so fast, you really can't enjoy them to their fullest on the streets. With that said, there are a few local roads where I find myself carving through a series of turns hoping there aren't any deer, or police, half way through. Now let me try and second guess a few things. You say you'd like to travel a few hours in your car. Have you looked at the GT3 Touring? It is a little less In Your Face looks wise. If that matters. But you'd have to go a few years newer... BTW, have you given any thought to the manual versus PDK choices? I'm assuming a PDK is ok because that's what you get in those cars. I hope I got that right. If you want a manual you'll have to go for a newer GT3. And I can only assume you'll never need to put a person in the back seat.... as you know, there isn't one in the GT3. If traveling in your car is important, I think the Turbo will be so much better than the GT3. I think the GT3 will be so much better around town. In the end, it's a nice problem to have.... |

Which gens are we talking both 2015?
Turbo S would be my choice. It's faster, still handles great, and is comfortable 992 TTS choice #1

I’ve driven both a 2018 Turbo S and a 2019 GT3(manual) and while the acceleration in the S was ballistic I’d take the GT3 all day and all night. I like the sound of the NA 4.0 much more and driving experience was less muffled than the S.

Track car for the street Harsh riding Scrapes like crazy unless FAL Availability of LWBS which looks awesome, not for all body types Huge wing NA Turbo Grand touring car Can still track it Lots of luxury options Slightly under the radar compared to the 3 Do you want a streetable track car, or a trackable street car? |

That is exactly the right question. If you want to mostly street drive with occasional tracking, Turbo S is the one to get. Also consider that the Turbo S is a better "track car" than 90% of the cars you will meet on your track.

I own the Turbo S cabriolet. Most perfect car unless you need 4 seats or to haul more stuff than it can hold. Did several road trips on that car and it’s just a pleasure in every way.
In my perfect Garage I’d have (simultaneously) Range Rover Sport Supercharged BMW M5C 911 Turbo S Working on it. |

hard for anything to beat the GT3 so you may as well stop making threads lol (im biased)
the 991 Turbo S is nice too. but its not a weekend toy its a DD with supercar performance. Kind of like how a model 3 performance is every bit as fast as an F80 if not faster, much more usable powerband, but its not something you'd keep around for special occasions.

Neither.
For what you seem to want the car for i'd do a 991.1 GTS. You still get the howl of the NA flat 6 but comfortable enough to take a long trip in. |

Turbo S. As a weekend car, even with nice roads, I want something that my wife can also enjoy while she is with me going places. Track cars and bikes are not fun vehicles for things like that. It's not fun spending hours on the express way round trip in a track oriented car or bike. If by weekend car you literally mean you drive 30mi to some super curvy road and then back home then OK get the GT3. If I wanted to go to the track I would still get the Turbo S and spend the left over cash on a track car I can beat on. I see many people who take 100k+ cars to the track and don't drive them like they should because of the potential costs if something happens.

Neither. I would have said GT3 if you were tracking or getting a 6MT GT3, but since that's not an option, I say Carrera S or GTS, or even better a Carrera T with a manual. 991.1 with NA Flat-6 or 991.2 with Turbo Flat-6. Either way, a manual 911 is the perfect weekend sports car, or if you don't need the rear seats, 718 GTS 4.0.

Id never pass on a turbo S over a Gt3..... the torque is addictive!
The boy racers will always love to rev.... But I prefer the turbo torque.

Is a GT3 Touring softer than a regular GT3? I know the wing is gone so less boy racer but is it more livable day to day? If so, there's your answer.
