Uniden R7 and R8s overstock sale

Update: Sold out again 10/30/24. Will update this post if they come back in stock again as I generally watch woot every morning for a bit!

Wanted to share since this deal on Woot is the second time in a very short period that Uniden brand new R7 and R8s have been over 20% off MSRP.

$549 for the R8
$379 for the R7

EDIT: If the above link doesn’t work try this one instead

Link doesn't work, but I would grab an R7 at that price. Never owned a radar detector before.

Same here. Never had a radar detector. Never got a speeding ticket (knocks on wood)

Is this technology worthy or do the cops have ways around these now with new tech?

Teach me. I want to learn more.

Happy motoring!

Try these links for the R7 directly:

Try this one

If that doesn’t work try this one instead

I’ve heard good things about Uniden R7 and R8 and they all say it’s saved them at least a couple times that would have otherwise been big tickets. I figure it’s worth spending a bit to hopefully avoid an increase in insurance costs.

I’d been watching the R8 price on Best Buy for months and the lowest I saw was $643. So at $549 I said okay that’s the price of one ticket lol

Already ordered a blendmount mirror tap and mount as that looks like by far the cleanest and easiest self install

I've never felt the need to buy one, but I know if they aren't configured well they can be super annoying with the amount of false readings you can get going around town.

Thanks y’all.

Yeah, I’ll just stick to what I’ve been doing for the past 30 years and might look at using Waze on roads I’m not as familiar with.

Cheers!

Sorry!!! I saw this deal 6-7 days ago on woot for the very first time ever there. And then by the time I ordered my R8 it was OOS. Then they brought it back today. May I suggest returning if you got it at Best Buy and ordering on Woot? Haha

It's 1000% worth it if your local law enforcement uses mostly radar like mine does. It's not much use against lidar, that's where laser jammers come into play but those are illegal in a handful of states.

Thanks for the heads up! Just ordered the R8 on woot. I heard a new version, called the R8w may be coming out shortly after SEMA but I’m expecting that to be several hundred more.

For those that have one, if I decide to go with the blendmount for a direct connection to the rear view mirror, can you still take it out to attach to another vehicle with a wired connection?

I bought a Blendmount, but I sure where there was a way to offset this up and to the right of the mirror without suction cups. Really don't like that big thing blocking half my view.

running a radar detector is a non-negotiable IMHO. why would you fly blind if you dont have to? especially if you spend a lot of time off the highway and main roads - the cops around me are usually lazy and just pin their KA band radars on all the time, so you have a huge heads up period if a cop is even in the neighborhood.

on the highway is a different story. most staties are now running laser, and a radar detector will only let you know laser if you already got got. i ran laser jammers on my old S4 and that saved my ass several times. but its expensive and a little bit overkill.

I've had my R3 for a year now, that $300 has saved my behind more times than I can count, absolute no-brainer. For years I flew blind and got stopped at least twice a year.

The "good" part about laser is that the officer has to be stationary to use it and stationary cops usually end up on waze lmao.

waze + radar detector will keep you out of trouble 99.9% of the time. new radar units are really, really good at filtering out false alerts and remembering where you mute things regularly (most have GPS now) and factoring that in. in my teen years (circa 2010-2013) i ran an escort 9500 that by today's standard is literally just a noise maker. but even that was better than nothing.

You are the man. I was gonna get the R7, but really couldn't pass up that price on the better R8. Latest & greatest for my M2er.

As others have mentioned, radar detectors are pretty useless if your cops use lidar. If you are in CA, CHP uses lidar.

While these say they can detect lasers, in reality if it does detect a laser then the cop already has your speed. The laser doesn’t bounce around like radar does.
