They did call out the 718 is significantly more expensive. In AU, it's a 70k difference, roughly 45k USD equivalent.

All I got from that video is that the 718 is overpriced...

people underestimate how much an advantage cup/track tires give.

hopefully TH eventually gets a manual car on regular tires soon.

Question about the bmw launch control: there is no way to select the launch RPM? I remember in the previous generations there was a switch, you could set 2500, 3000, ...

The GTS is rated at a 4.7s 0-60 and G87vat 3.9, both conservatively. It should have won that drag race.

I think the heaviest version possible is right at 3900 (auto, moonroof, etc). They had a carbon pack car with auto which would be right around 3790-3800 with 90% gas.

They clearly didn't weigh the car and they definitely post the highest possible weight.

Wait...our cars have launch control? God, I really need to spend some time looking at the owners manual. My launch control was dumping the clutch and praying.

Also, yes the G87 should have won that roll race, the car is at a minimum 500 HP, probably somewhere between 500 and 550. Also, one thing to note is that track times will vary on different times of day let alone different days. Meaning, unless you take every car on their list and race them at the same time, the list is just for fun.
Which is what this channel is, it's pure entertainment and I actually love it.

where are you seeing that 0-60 for the cayman?

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/

0-60 in 3.8, and trap speed of 120. its similar the G87. But mid engine and no turbo usually result in a more consistent launch. the ecu can make minor adjustments to throttle since there is no turbo to keep spooled up

Yep it's easy peasy too. Come to a stop, steering wheel straight, clutch in, mash the go pedal, car initiates launch control, let her rip.

So much this. I won't daily drive a GTS. Even if the GTS was significantly faster, it wouldn't change my calculus.

1) You should definitely RTFM, the car does a lot of stuff and it's worth your time.

2) Did your CA not spend a hour with you going over all the features of your car? They should have!

Also the car has to be warm, or the the ECU may refuse to engage LC.

Also the manual asks you to not do launches before break-in, IIRC.
