I've wanted that to happen since the '17 model was introduced but wish they were also offered with a 6MT. ~300 hp, turbo, RMR, less than 2,500 lbs... pretty rad. I love the interior and exterior styling as well. Their US expansion is coming a decade too late.

I also read today that while Alpine WILL be entering the US market, they will NOT be bring the A110. Just a couple of SUVs. Bummer.

Never understood why motor journalists do comparisons of cars in completely different classes, of course the M2 isn’t going to be able to compete with lighter, more focused sports cars costing 50% more than it, put it against an RS3 or an A45S and it’ll blow them away, just me two cents anyways

I mean, of course a G87 isn't a muscle car. I'm old enough to have grown up in real muscle cars of the 70s. Harsh, terrible interiors, bad steering, bad brakes (drums in the rear lol), bad cornering, great only at peeling out and accelerating in a straight line.

The M brand has high HP-per-dollar relative to their European peers. However, these are still track-worthy luxury sedans. Absolutely not muscle.

they give a pretty fair assessment. but they are also looking through the lens of a pure enthusiast. and its hard to beat a supra there. especially at that price. assuming msrp i'd take a manual supra and use the leftover money to get a civic sedan to daily. it would equal out to that spec M2 they had.

of course everyone has different needs. and you can box yourself into any car being 'the only one on the market that has x, y, and z'

True. It absolutely does depend. I'd rather not have my daily drives cause me to cry in boredom. I'd rather not have to garage an extra car.

I'd love to have one car that can do it all, because I can only take one car with me on long road trips, that are a combination of highway driving and fun twisties (and I'll need to bring luggage).

If you don't need a do-it-all car, there are better options, for sure.
