I think this car is very compelling for us to move from the 135i, whereas we could’ve hesitated before, wishing we would, but not being sure it’d be a worthy upgrade. Now it absolutely is, no question. Quote:
But all we need is to spend some time with it or around it to come around. I was considering ZB because it’s such a unique colour. I think it looks great in every colour now, but colour me biased with my decision too! :P |

Congrats on the M2! Stunning
I’m blown away by your child seat configuration. That’s great that the setup works for you. I rarely drive my M6gc because it can get difficult getting the kids in and out (have twins).

It's pretty wild how different Toronto Red looks in different lights. Under flourescents and in the dark at a gas station, it could pass for Rosso. In direct sun, it's anywhere from Fiery Orange to Sakhir in some photos. Definitely an awesome red!

The first ride from the hospital was behind the passenger seat, but the seat had to be moved so far forward that no one could sit in it. So a change to the middle spot was in order! Works really well, and the space on the sides is tight but I’ve had 2 adults in the back (one 6-footer) and for up to 30 minute rides it’s all good! And more people to play with your child during the trip. Quote:
So, to me, the car has “red brakes” irrespective of the car’s colour. Could be black, but with black wheels they’d be so hidden! Blue could work, but I thought it’d clash more. Don’t know. It’s more of an individual preference thing, just like the body colour. Everyone will have theirs. But rest assured the colours are absolutely different in person too. Quote:

I’d be on the fence if I had an M2C too. Sometimes it’s like replacing phones… I rocked my iPhone 7 until last year… So would I replace my current iPhone 13 Pro with a 14 Pro? No. With a 15 Pro when it comes out? Maybe, but the benefits need to be compelling enough. So, an M2C is newer and has all the features you want… still makes sense. Unless the value proposition is there (for phones for me, now with a growing kid, it’s the camera) why would you right? I guess the 135i was my iPhone 7. And you know it! Malahat it is lol Thanks!!!! I’ll be sure to enjoy it! |

OK, so great write up, sequence of brilliant consequences and all that stuff aside - share the back story about sneaking out on a Saturday morning having just seen your dream car is at a local Dealers, with some BS offer of help, to take your son out blah blah…..and coming back having bought an M2!
I’m really hoping there’s an even better story you’re not sharing |

It’s true, I lived on the prairies before (our midwest), so can’t really complain about our driving situation out west. This place is beautiful and the roads are nice for fun drives! |

Dont wanna be that person but as I have 3 kids myself and their safety is the most important thing: I would say there is a 99.9% chance that a childseat is not authorized on the middleseat of the M2, as its just a 4 seater (All manufactureres even forbid to use a childseat with a stand on the middleseat of a 5 seater car…) Just have this in mind regarding safety and insurance reasons if really something happens.
I for myself had to step away from the M3 Touring and buy an SUV due to not having a safe possibility to fit all 3 kids in the M3 Touring safely. Dream was gone but was the right thing to do… Last edited by FoxyP; 05-23-2023 at 03:29 PM.. |

It sucks there’s no way to do a 3 seat install on the M3. And you were so lucky to get that car in the first place! The Touring is the dream that was taken away from us north americans… sorry you had to settle for an SUV. Which one did you end up getting? |

Thanks. I really tried everything and all the different (bigger) Sportwagons (RS6, E63 etc) but none of them really worked for 3 kids in a row, it always was a compromise with either safety or convenience also with the narrowest child seats… Finally I had to bite the bullet and went for a MY24 Volvo XC90 T8 Ultimate which was the only SUV next to the Q7 (I dont like Audi) that fits 3 childsseats nicely across in a safe way without a compromise (due to having an integrated booster seat in the middle). Its a universe away from the M3 Touring and I hate SUVs but my time will eventually come (for anyone who was wondering, the 3rd child wasnt planned…). Maybe get a mid engine Sportscar as a second car in 2 years time or so…
Enjoy your awesome M2 and all the best! |
