xpel PPF installer wants the car for 3 day, is this normal?(front bumper and hood)

was talking with my xpel PPF installer. he said he would like to keep the car for 3 days. Is this normal when only installing PPF on the front bumper, hood and headlights)?

Thanks

1 day to install, weekend in the mountains with his 304. That’s 3 days.

LoL.

Sounds like he's got other customers ahead of you.

Why is it not normal?
It's not unusual for an installer to request three days to apply PPF to the front bumper, hood, and headlights. This time allows for:

Surface Preparation: Cleaning and prepping surfaces for adhesion.
Installation Time: Ensuring precise application without bubbles or creases.
Curing Time: Allowing the film to set and ensuring edges are securely adhered.
Quality Control: Inspecting for any issues that may arise post-installation.
This process ensures a high-quality, long-lasting finish for your vehicle.

All of that can be done in a single day if the shop is working on your car only, with a follow up visit a few weeks later to address any issues.

Keep in mind he said it was only for hood and front bumper ppf (not fenders or anything more, no ceramic coating, no paint correction, no window tint, etc.). I've left my car for 3 or 4 days but that was for ppf on the entire front clip, rocker panels, roof, paint correction, ceramic coating (including wheels off service), and window tint (including the windshield).

Bumper and hood ppf should take no longer than getting your windows tinted, which is done in a day if not less.

That's how long it took mine and I did about the same. Minor paint correction, install, wait for it to dry, the QC. End results, no issues.

I got a quote to install PPF and Ceramic coating from an XPel installer as well. For the full-frontal package (hood, bumpers, A-pillars, etc) they said that they would need the vehicle for 5 days. I think this time frame is typical. I've had PPF installed on 3 prior vehicles, and 3 days was the least amount of time a vehicle has ever been held.

My installer requested 3 day and I had no problem and because of it, all edges are laying down and it looks good.

Yeah I don’t see an issue if he’s doing all the prep work.

I would be weary of any PPF guy who’s going to turn it around in 1 day.

It took mine 3-4 days to do full car.
I don’t think it’s crazy that he needs 3 days.. 2 would be reasonable, maybe he’s slow or a one man operation.

Like others have mentioned, I deem it acceptable to make sure any hiccups that occurred would be sorted out and after the three days, you should be issue free.

I'm on the side of take the time and do it right the first time.

3 days doesn't seem unreasonable. Surely you'd rather a good job than a rush job?

That seems way too fast.

There's nothing wrong with them asking for 3 days with the car. Can it be done in a day with a return visit for QC? Absolutely. If you don't think so, go speak with any good shop out there. Again, this is simply just the front bumper and hood...two guys could knock this out in a few hours and still have hours to let sit. Bring the car back a few weeks later for another QC check and boom done. I'm going to assume this is one dude and he has a few cars he's working on at the same time, again totally reasonable if that's the situation.

Two cars, different times, x5, z4. Both in 1 day am picked up next afternoon. Ppf only front & rockers. Back in 1 week for QC check. Month 7 on the X5, no issues thus far. Several people working in the shop. XPEL shop.

I have used the same installer on multiple cars. Generally drop off in the morning and pick up the next afternoon (for full front clip). With the G80 he requested a third day due to angles on the car to allow more time for install and QC after.

Mine took four days. Reason being fixing anything that might arise particularlyin more complex areas, which I'd take over rushing even though the wait was killing me.

It has been a few weeks since you posted this question. What did you decide to do? Did you bring your X1 to this Xpel shop?

Greetings,

According to a simple google search...1 - 7 days depending on what gets covered. My last car (front bumper only)...a few hours. Several days seems excessive...or you're racked and stacked (in other words, he's got several customers waiting in front of you...and wants your deposit/car, etc.).
