If audi followed bmw's lead and put the 6cyl S4 engine in the S3 it might have swayed me. Plus the back seats in the s3 aren't really useable so I'd rather have a coupe with cleaner lines |

I do not put the Audi S3 in the same ballpark as the M240 for that reason. I was shopping for anything but a 4 cylinder. Which led me to the overpriced Audi RS3, or Mercedes AMG 43 as other considerations. If i wanted another 4 banger the Honda Civic SI would be my choice. The fact that they put a manual tranny in that almost swayed me, i will see if i can live with an automatic in the M240. |

Easy one who has owned 3 with zero issues, but unfortunately had 1 Audi and 1 VW with bent valves prior to hitting 60,000 miles.

Had a Civic Si last gen before the M240i. Definitely was a let down in overall driving pleasure for the 4 cylinder motor. It was buzzy and vibrated like it was about to pop at higher RPM. Had plenty of power for what it was.and sipped gas.
As far as the three way race, the M240i is the only car that seems to understand it's identity. The VW is like a teenager that never grew up and the Audi is a soccer dad that compromised due to the wife and kids. The m240i is comfortable in its own clothes and still has sex appeal. |
