[RESOLVED] BMW of the Woodlands Sold My Reserved G87 M2

UPDATE: BMW of the Woodlands came through with an acceptable resolution. Still getting a G87 ASAP. Details here:

Update: https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...3&postcount=70

Final update: https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=72

-----------------------------

I am a huge M enthusiast and was very excited about the new M2 to have as a companion to my M4 CSL.

After an exhaustive search, on 2/22/23, I put down $2,500 to reserve an HEA G87 with BMW of the Woodlands at MSRP.

The car arrived to the dealership yesterday evening. I was just notified by Eric Bowen that they sold the car to a local customer from under me and will be refunding my deposit. Eric said that Neil Maddox, the General Manager, made the decision.

As mentioned above, I have a $2500 deposit down, as well as a deal sheet with all terms. This is an AutoNation dealership.

Gutted.

A sure sign of a garbage dealer are all of those add ons they scribbled out.

Sorry to hear about that.

Sorry to hear that, keep spreading the word.

Curious how that $72,638 price was MSRP?

Also, those Finance and Lease rates are absolute garbage, do people fall for that? AutoNation seems shady AF. I’ve seen an HEA they’re selling somewhere that has a $20k ADM, many others btw $5 & $10k.

either let it slide
or if you have a rock solid signed agreement sue them.

maybe just the threat from a lawyer will get you a under msrp discount on an m2 there.

Doesn't look like they ever signed the agreement. In my paperwork, both myself and dealer had signatures.

Sorry OP - that's a super raw deal. Post online about your experience and their willingness to lose customers for quick cash gains.

This 100%.

I do not see the sales manager’s signature on the buyers order therefore it was not legally binding.

The word "AutoNation" was what gave it away.

To add...those crossouts...not initialed either so wouldn't be binding. Any markups to written contracts would need to be initialed by both parties to be legally binding.

Not getting this car at those rates is a blessing in disguise. An ADM would be better than paying those rates.

every single time I've ever purchased a car from a dealer the lease & finance rates on a pricing sheet like that are just examples only, I don't know why folks are acting like those were the purchase terms...

also while I agree that big nationwide corporate dealers almost always suck, it really does come down to each individual dealership is unique. we actually got our 230i from an AutoNation dealer for no other reason than they had the car we wanted on the lot and offered under MSRP (purchased late Feb) so 🤷‍♂️

I'm going to give OP the benefit of the doubt by assuming he had secured alternative financing, or he would just go with FS to get $500 loyalty before refinancing. 10.99% is nuts

That's unfortunate. Some weeks ago when I was looking for an M2 I had been in contact with among other dealers BMW of the Woodlands but found what I was looking for a lot closer to me.

But after your experience I'd have to say Woodlands is off my list of dealers I'd use going forward.

However, while I'm not a lawyer I'd say the dealer did nothing illegal. As others have noted the paperwork lacked a signature/signatures that would have made it a binding purchase. Binding to both you and the dealer.

But by not honoring the deal I think the dealer did you a favor. You can make a better deal for an M2 and with a better dealer.
