Swap the lease of my m340i and finance M2

Hey there,

Just gathering some thoughts here.
I am currently leasing a 2022 M340i xdrive. It's a perfect car for me, where I do some tracking, and use it as a daily drive.

As I grew more interested in cars, power, and handling, I really like the new M2.

There is another financial perspective. I did a calculation on my M340i monthly lease, and in total 3 years would be 36k out of my pocket, including lease + gas + insurance + tax.
But if I finance the G87 M2, although the interest is around 8k, I will spend around 32k out of my pocket for 3 years of ownership, including the interests, insurance, gas, and considering depreciation resale value.

It seems G87 M2 is the answer!

But still I will not finance one this year tho, I feel like the interest rate is too high. I'd rather wait for some day with 3% rate and pull the trigger next year, when my m340i lease ends.

What do you think? Am I doing the right calulation?

I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer here, as everyone’s case and financial situation is unique.

It sounds like the M2 is a good option for you, plus, it’s yours. It all comes down to your lifestyle and how the car payment fits in or impacts it!

Go for it

Not sure, err hopeful, you will see 3% next year...

I'd say wait for another year. I'm putting any significant purchases on hold for the upcoming year and saving to buy my G80 outright after my lease is done. At this point it's best to stay away from financing as much as possible. These times are truly of the "cash is king" kind.

Can't predict the future on interest rates, and if you want an M2 next year you'd better get in line now. You are not going to be able to wait until rates go down and then get one on the spot. It is what it is, unfortunately.

Except the market has gone up 10-20% in the last 6 months when people have been saying that the entire time.

If your m340i is perfect for you, why not just buy it for the residual?
