I suspect this will likely occur as the CPI/PCE numbers start to normalize, closer to the 2-3% vs >7% we are at now. The fed also stated that they may stop raising the rates late into Q1 2023 to give time to see the downstream effects. Either way, it’s going to take more than a few months to get these ridiculous inflation numbers down to the target 2%.

It should either be this week or the one after at the latest.

What Facebook group is this in? I talked to two dealers today, neither has allocations. I've called 10 dealers in the last week. Most have 5-7 people in the order bank. One dealer said they have over 20 orders in.

The dealers near me said the wait for an M2 would be 12-18 months if I put a deposit down now. One of them is not taking any more deposits. Trying to buy a desirable car these days is just not worth it. Total waste of time.

Find another dealership. The ones I spoke to only had 4-5 people on the list and these are M dealerships. That's not a whole lot considering how new the car is.

Agreed. It is pretty much common sense that when a new non-M model is launched tha an M version is soon to follow. Obviously, this is not applicable to every BMW model, but it is when it is in regards to the 2-Series. Last edited by T_U_D; 12-03-2022 at 01:42 PM.. |

To say it’s common sense is a bit much. But definitely if you wanted the new M2 you’d have been following it for a while and should have been calling the dealers months ago

Per my opinion, I disagree, especially if one has been around marque at length. We have several repeat M clients that beginning speaking with us regarding the next M version prior to the non-M launching. Generally those individuals place a deposit when the non-M model launches, myself included. Keep in mind that typically the new M model arrives 12-18 months after the non-M model. The G87 is the exception to that usual rule of thumb. |

What you're talking about are hardcore people. I started looking at the M240 but then heard the new M2 was coming out. So I decided to wait and see if I like it. In the meantime I researched performance benefits, weighted the pros and cons of each car and made my decision. I was trying to work with a local salesperson but the one I talked to was out on leave. I started working with someone else and after I got to the dealership and talked to the salesperson they told me the store is going to be charging ADM. So I called around all different locations that would be convenient for me. That sounds more like common sense. Calling around after you know about something. But to look at the pattern of how the sales have gone, which for the M2, there wasn't a pattern since it's only the second gen. I've done this when I bought new electronics and it's because I'm nerdy and want to have the new tech sooner than later. But definitely not something a normal fan would do. |
