Cross-tower strut brace (or M2 struts in all G42?)
In the January/February issue of Roundel, there is an article on the M@ and M2 CS. On page 73 is the following photo of the engine bay of an M2.
I notice a cross-tower strut brace. It appears to be running over an engine cover with a groove in it to allow the brace to sit low enough to close the hood. I wonder if those parts (i.e., the engine cover and three braces) could be fitted to any G42? Perhaps other parts would need to be changed too so as to allow the braces to clear?

The G87 M2 / M3 / M4 OEM strutbrace does fit the G42, however it's not as simple as it looks.
You will need the rear alloy brace, the pair of strut top brackets, the centre brace bar, the V brace bar and also the upper radiator support top bar. Then you will need ALL the matching nuts and bolts, they are too short on the G42. Next you will need the pair of G87 windscreen side cowls and the pair of G87 strut tower / bonnet seals. That's the easy stuff. The engine cover will no longer fit, the LH wiring loom plastic cover and the air box are both in the way of the centre brace bar. |
