I had the exact thought. Clearly confusing the front cowl bracing with the C-pillar bracing that was also mentioned during the interview in Arizona.

Well a stiffer front will make the rear rotate more. Loosely translate that to more precise turn-in.

That is marginal though, especially what we are seeing. The strut tower bracing has far more significance to the front end of the vehicle and also why we pretty much see it across the entire BMW model line.

That would work on most individuals, or at least those that are not mechanically inclined. The brake fluid reservoir is always on the left side of a left hand drive BMW.

Wow that is beefy. I can't wait for some aftermarket replacements. The weight is making loads of sense and boy am I glad to see this.

Looks aluminum to me so I don't see you saving any meaningful weight unless someone comes out with CF braces and even then, it's such a small piece, I doubt it would be worth it. When it comes to weight, I pick my battles.

No kidding. I hard to believe they'd use it though considering the proliferation of steel.

Struts are all aluminum on M cars.

Yes sir , all things being equal steel is the stronger material. To reach the same properties & torsional rigidty it would have to be a thicker compound, compared to it’s steel counterpart.

Still results in a lighter weight but much more expensive ofcourse. I know you got some ideas already to switching out some components to CF , looking forward to what you have in store when you take delivery.

Only the dome firewall strut is made of alm.

Yes, the strut brace is just stamped steel but the suspension on an M car is aluminum. Front struts, rear shocks, control arms, etc. Are you referring to the strut tower?
