I've never been successful selling a car through the Autotrader. I've always sold my cars quickly through the classifieds. I think it comes down to fact that most people are too cheap to buy an Autotrader, but a newspaper is practically free and you'll find one whereever you go (ie in the waiting room of an office or a barber shop).

All of the above suggestions are right on. However, if you are trying to sell a really high mileage car that cleans up real nice, I suggest listing it on eBay. I see cars that look really good in pictures sell for way more than they are worth on there, especially the ones with 100k+ miles on them.

I'm curious to know why you wrote "no tax!" in your listing? Are you going to pay the sales tax for when the buyer titles the car? Interesting.... |

Wow...great tips. Just listed my car on vortex (didn't even know that was an audi site as well!). The 330 came in early, so I need to start getting serious about selling. Next stop, craiglist. If anyone knows anybody that needs a wagon...

I agree with everyone who said craigslist. I posted an old Honda beater up there last month and within 48 hours, about 10 emails and 10 phone calls.
Pics definitely help. |

I recently sold my Audi with Autotrader.com. I sold it within the first week it was up. I got about 15 calls.
Hope it picks up for you
