For anyone wondering on delays entering production - i was given a week 48 build week and my car entered production today. As of now, all my equipment (xm, active cruise control, Harmon kardon, power seats with lumbar) are still listed on it.

Ordered car on 11/10
Production number assigned 11/10
Production begins 11/29

How long after you ordered your car did you find out the build week? when did they assign the VIN? It has only been 6 days since I placed my order. Anxiously waiting to see it move to the start production phase.

My dealer told me the build week prior to ordering, he had allocations for 4 cars and I could pick which spot I wanted.

I called bmw genius (number below) the week after I placed the order to find out build week. The vin number was assigned today since it went into production today. Until now I only had a production number.

Thanks...just called...she said week 49/50 (at first she said something about by 12/21) and to call back later in the week when hopefully they will know more. She also thought it was Tuesday today

Maybe certain productions are being delayed because of the options chosen? Or they are prioritizing if you have more upgraded options? Other than that not sure why certain people who ordered it weeks before I did still haven't entered production.

Ha I'm hoping it doesn't come in until late February or later. Rather wait until the snow is gone to take delivery. I don't drive much and even less in the winter. So I'm in no rush.

Ordered and having a production date/week are two different things you can order a week before and if an allocation/production week is available for say the next week..it starts the next week, but if someone ordered 2 months ago for a allocation for say two weeks after yours...even though they ordered before...their date is for after yours.

Hope that makes sense. Also, get the week/allocation date from your dealer people! I had mine on the invoice, and you can also get it from the BMW genius...buuut after a conversation with them, I'm pretty sure they are not the end all be all and are infallible.

My m240i was ordered on October 25, and sat in "production scheduled" status for more than a month--with three rescheduled build weeks--until TODAY, when it finally moved to "production begins" with VIN number!

EDIT: All my selected options are still shown as well, although my CA changed my tires to performance RF and this change is not (yet) reflected in the specs.

Mine went into production today after 7-8 week wait. I’m not gonna be buying it if anyone wants a fully loaded purple car (except cooling package). BMW of Dallas.

I found another car in inventory that arrived today.

It's even worse and your car is completed but is sitting in Brunswick for 3 weeks now!

Hmm, I wonder if I could get them to swap allocations with my dealership if they are the same builds, it would save me a few weeks.

Here is my spec, is the one that you had in production built any different?

19" M Double-spoke cerium grey Wheels
Black/Blue stitching vernasca
Aluminum Tetragon

I would follow up on this request if you haven't seen the changes applied yet. All changes to a build are reflected nearly-instantaneously (or at least show they very next day in the consumer tracker).

I bet you your CA asked the sales manager to make the change and they forgot. I would definitely recommend following up if you haven't already.

Everything is the same except:

1. My order has blue calipers. I thought red would clash with purple.
2. My order has Active Cruise Control. Would probably never use it but it's cheap so I optioned it.
