N55 engine potential
What kind of potential does the N55 have? When a real tune like Cobb comes out, what kind of power could we see with this engine?
What kind of 0-60 times? 4.0? Total HP?

Meh... its a factory tune..I'm sure it's great.
However, I'm interested in something that pushes the car a little harder.

370 whp and 430wtq from JB4 Stage 2, DP, w/ Meth.
Knock off 10-15hp or so w/o meth. At least a handful have run 1/4 times under 12 seconds on stock turbos. Someone on this board with Stage 2 and DP with drag radials ran 11.9. Don't think he had any other mods. Just stage 1 produced 310whp/`345wtq with no other mods. I need to dyno my car some day to see what my particular car puts out. Never mentioned MPPK, I was more or less referring to the BMS tune.
MPPK is a very "real" tune that completely remaps the car. Just looking for some insight on the potential of the n55 engine. |

We may see near 400whp with E85/Meth and some fine tuning, but that's probably about it. I'd guess it'll fall short somewhere around 385whp. But with the upgraded turbos in development all bets are off.

400whp seems to be the max that the E90 N55 guys are seeing with FBO+e85. RB Turbos and Vargas are both working on single turbo upgrades for the N55 motor that "should" be able to work with the F30 chassis, according to the vendors. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see 500whp with the turbo upgrade, that's what the N54 guys are getting with the RB turbo upgrade. |

The ppk and cobb tunes do not make as much power as the JB4 Stg 2 on the N55 and this has been proven on dynos and on the track. Cobb is much more competitive on the N54 platform though.

Do you think this tranny can handle 500wtq and sustain that?

If and when a turbo upgrade becomes available... Would it be really expensive? And would we have to upgrade other engine components to handle the extra power?

I'd have to search for it, but I think they were charging around $3kish for the bigger turbos. |
