Blue lights next to reading lights??

Have had my blue M2 for a month and love it. Break in service next week.

I noticed when driving tonight that there is a small blue light on driver's side and passenger's side next to the reading lights . They might be some form of indicator lights.

Can someone tell me what they are?
Thanks

I do have ambient set to blue but these are very tiny lights that appear more likely as some form of indicator lights. I will change the ambient color tomorrow and see what effect that has. These lights, although very small, are very noticeable/distracting at night in a non-urban area. Thanks

Not sure what they are for but yeah, shows your ambient light color.

They are similarly on my MY23 M240. I dont even notice them unless I look at them. Not sure how they are distracting based on their location and lack of intensity but everyone is entitled...

Those are the ambient lights that shine down on the center console.

Change them to red so they stop distracting you, I agree blue is horrible at night.

I actually have one car set to blue and one set to red...neither are an issue to me.

These small blue lights are orientation lights. The purpose of the orientation lights is to cast a glow upon vital controls within the driver’s compartment to provide "orientation" within the car.

I believe El Sid is correct that these are orientation lights. I certainly was not familiar with them.
