Introduction
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I purchased a G87, 6 speed, Zandervoort blue with carbon roof about two weeks ago. I drove it back from Nebraska to Utah. The G87 replaced an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It has big shoes to fill. My initial impressions are the manual transmission is more fun, and the brake pedal is better in the BMW. Exhaust sound and steering feel are worse. We will see if that changes after 1,200 miles are up. Other current cars include X3M Comp (F97), Rivian R1T, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, and Ford Bronco. I look forward to learning from everyone on the forum. |

Welcome!
It's generally believed that the G87 has some of the best braking around, but not great steering feel (a place the QV excels). So I'd say your first impressions sound spot on. G87 doesn't have a great exhaust note. BMW inline 6 motors are awesome but they don't make great noise. You can add exhaust mods, but they will never sound like a V8. If you are new to the M division's S motors, my main advice is to drive it like you stole it. S58 is tuned to have less power at the low end, but then pulls hard all the way to redline. It wants to rev high, so in spirited driving, keep it above 3500, the higher the better. Clutch grab is weirdly high, you get used to it. Other than that, it's a very easy car to drive, without a lot of quirks or gotchas. I'm sure you'll have a great time! |

Welcome. This is a great group with a lot of expertise. (some of the interlopers can be interesting tho).
ZB + 6spd + carbon roof myself, bought in Arizona and transported to Colorado. Enjoy the ride. BTW you have a nice collection of cars there. |
