My base Cayman 718 arrives in a few weeks. I wonder if I should trade it in next year for an M2…. I could use the back seats for kiddos but then again the mid engine Porsche could be my little escape. It won't be as fast but it should be just as enjoyable to drive with a manual transmission and optioned PASM suspension.

Starting to come together - looking good from what I can see. Looks like that front bumper leak was pretty close to real.

well I like it a LOT more than the outgoing M2, but that wasn't a high standard to clear. The last M2 always looked really soft and bulbous to me—not in a good way. I am glad they have returned to geometrical angles!

Hitting 265kmph with no helmets. Smart.
I suppose BMW has them sign all sorts of gag orders and liability waivers... but still.. maybe show some responsible driving?

Shmee feels that this is the sweet spot for M cars. Glowing review. Im so curious to hear what the option list and M Perf parts will look like. The CF roof, at mi imum would be on my wish. Will they offer CF trunk and hood?
This Shmee video got me thinking.

This. No way I believe those are the production seats.

I don't know. Those base seats look like the real thing, especially with M2 embossed in the leather and blue stitching(OG M2-like). Those very well could be the base M2 standard seats. The Comp could have M4 standard sport seats.
Look at the seats in very beginning of Joe Achilles review, those things look production ready. Last edited by M3WC; 06-12-2022 at 10:07 PM.. |

Carbon seats and carbon roof are going to put this at around $78K. I bet base price upon launch in US will be $68,950

The common theme I'm getting is that the G87 still lives in the shadow of it's M3/4 siblings. Not necessarily a bad thing, I mean that's what we were getting with the F generation cars anyway, but I had hoped the brand had enough data points to inject some more unique DNA to the G car. Seeing as how it's likely the last we'll ever see of this type of car from BMW, I figured we'd be able to go out with a little more bang.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that we're getting more of the same. Deep down, I was really hoping for a leap instead of a step |
