ICE will be around for another 20 years at least.

Size wise, I like G87 more. Everything else, G82 is the winner for me.
If I have to buy (again), I’ll go for G80 😁

I've seen many in person—just not my thing. They seem like they were designed by a large group of people without any focus. They're all over the place and odd looking.

They're even uglier in person for me. Especially the IOMG and AW ones. It's quite a confusing design that makes your head spin.

The more I see that front, the more I hate it.

Still cringe when one is driving towards me on the road. I point them out to my non-car friends all the time and they are not a fan.

I have come around to the G80 but the G82 does nothing for me.

All of the anecdotes about people coming up and giving compliments I think are a bit one sided. When I saw the G82 in the wild for the first time it was in a Chipotle parking lot. I was checking out the car and the owner came up. Naturally, I gave him a compliment instead of telling him I was curious but ultimately very disappointed. It's a strange looking car so it attracts attention. Attention doesn't always equal praise.

G87 looks like a protagonist's gundam whereas the G82 looks like that ugly villain with loads of power but no elegance.

Sorry, but the G82 does EVERYTHING for me. I'm surprised that there is so much distaste for it, but I guess that is why I have one haha. I knew the M3 was more popular, but I just find the rear, to the front, to just flow so harmoniously on the G82. And lest we forget that the G80 has the G82's front, not the other way around as BMW has always done for the 4 door M cars. In my opinion, it was designed for the M4 first and then put onto a G20 body (obviously with the beefy fenders) YET I still think it looks great, I just will say if you prefer the G8X, the M4 is the original design for that grille love it or hate it. In person it's wide hips are a lot more prevalent and I'm obsessed with the tail lamps, they just have such presence. The grille doesn't bother me, especially since I have black, and I actually like it. In person it brings back memories of forward leaning BMW front ends and longer grilles.

I am liking the G87 and G80/G81 of course as well, I just have always liked BMW's "midsize?" coupe offering because it feels like it can be a GT and a sportscar at the same time. I guess that kind of goes for any of these new M's.

Maybe if we combine the best elements of the cars we get a tasteful car? Get rid of the weird M3/M4 side skirts and buck teeth grill, keep the M3/M4 halo like lights, and get rid of the weird rear bumper indent in the M2.

I like just about everything on the G87 better. But I do wish IOMG was a standard color option. That might tempt me away from my F87…otherwise I'm staying put.

IOMG is such a great color, I loved it on my G80 and it would work really well on the G87

Irony will be, going forward into the new hybrid and ev era we will be looking back at these M cars as light weights.
It'll be the day when a Miata weighs 3500 lbs, running on tiny electric motor and calling it a lightweight.

Having said that, very curious to see what the new EV cayman will be like. Despite the inevitable weight increase, I bet it'll still handle even more amazingly due to an even lower center of gravity.

If G80 had the grille from G87 then it would look decent. M4 on the other hand is a complete mess all around.

M2 is overall a much more cohesive design even if its not the most elegant.

ICE will be around for another 20 years at least.
I hope but states will force manufacturers' hands by banning the purchase of new ICE vehicles after a certain year. They will use government to control the market choices.
