I hate them all, maybe I'm no longer part of the BMW target. I find this design too aggressive, forced to amaze at all costs, originality more important than beauty, elegance and balance of lines. It's not stuff for me.

And there's nothing wrong with that. I'm totally over the whole comic book movie universe thing but they make massive amounts of money from the target audience so I can't fault them for providing what the masses want. Sometimes you just have to accept that you don't like what's popular and as much as people have criticized BMW's styling directions, the reality is the masses like them better than the traditional styled BMW's of previous generations as sales have never been better.

Yea and not every design is success. BMW interestingly is able to create scarcity factor with these M cars and that is certainly driving up the demand.

I’ll take the G87’s overall proportions, the M2 front end, but the M3’s headlights and hips / rear end.

Where can I get that?

The G82 is the ugliest. And a barge, to boot.

It’s a 6 series masquerading as an M3 coupe.

I'll keep my G82, that G87 is horrible! Looks like a upgraded Scion tC w/ an M Badge.

They should have just made it a smaller g82 with the g80 booty and kept the grill the same but a little smaller

The G82 is lighter. So it's debatable which one is the barge

Fair enough - my main point is the overall length of the M4.

All three could do with a subscription to Weight Watchers.

I honestly think that genuine enthusiasts traditionally buy an M car for the performance & the overall driving experience thus are happy with 'improved series' styling as long as the car performed well.
On the other hand the general public (non enthusiasts) buy an M car primarily for 'poser' value thus the big difference in looks between an M version as apposed to the non M cars is much more important to them.
Nowadays the latter demographic is a much bigger target audience (ie unfortunately there's more posers than enthusiasts) & BMW are naturally capitalizing on that.

One of the best post I've read latley, explains a lot.

That is what I thought, look at the M3 and M4 it is an M5/M6 and the M2 is the old M3. I think I saw a stat that the M2 is basically the same size as an E92 M3.

G87 out of these 3. I like the g80/82 all over minus the nostrils. Curious what the LCI will do with the g80/82 though. Also not saying the g87 is perfect, but there isn’t one part of a car I dislike as much as the bigger brother nostril grilles.

I am 32. Grew up in love with the e46 M3, owned an e90 335, loved the M-Tech front bumper. Love a good H-kink. There is something I really appreciate about simple geometric shapes with a splash of flare. The G87 at its core (to me) is the right overall shape, has great e46ish proportions, and the simplicity of the design caters very much towards the design elements I have really fallen in love with in past renditions.

The only place I really think they dropped the ball was with the headlights and iDrive 8. I honestly think the G87 was designed to cater to exactly me. The performance parts, while I'm not a huge fan, feel like a part of my childhood in NFS Underground.

M2/G87 > M4/G82

I can't compare the M3/G80 since it is 4 door and it would be better to compare to the M5 or M8

G87's interior is more modern and it makes the G82/G80 outdated imho.. ✌🏻

Sometimes poor man's M is the way to go if you care about driving dynamics. Most fun Porsche is not the most expensive and the fastest 911 Porsche. Its GT4, poor man's Porsche GT car. But if I was going to buy a 911 variant non GT car it would be 993 C2, or new GT4.
