Wow, if this is true then people who opt for carbon roof would be paying for both the sunroof & carbon roof, seeing that 1900 CAD translates to roughly 1400 USD. 1400(carbon roof)+1100(sunroof)=2500*1.06 (inflation)=2650. Bean counters at full erection?
It's no wonder as sunroofs on M cars have dismal resale value. M customers are quite focused.

If I was a little more cynical, I would say that the hefty cost for the carbon fiber roof option is subliminally scaling the overhead for vehicles with the standard sunroof option.

More or less, they know they going to make a killing from the carbon fiber roof option, so they can afford to throw a bone to the peasants that didn't opt for it, by giving them a sunroof, gratis, a supposed $1,100 value.

Anyways, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.. 😗

you better pick new colours from the 5 they will be offering—-because you won't be getting those. NO individual colours offered—-your sales rep doesn't know!

I think custom colour will work. I did it on a non-M car before.

If you are right, I guess I will have to contend myself with Toronto Red. I will save $4,500 plus taxes.

There is a build your own at the BMW USA web site.

Link:

https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...series/2/coupe

I built a couple of the M240i coupes. If I'm not totally crazy I came up with a nicely optioned one in $0 Alpine White for $52,295.

Base MSRP: $47,900

19" double-spoke bi-color wheels (style B93M) with hi-perf non run-flat tires

Black perforated Sensa Tec upholstery

Black high gloss trim

Cooling and high performance tire package: $2400

Parking assist package: $700 (didn't order this it was "added" as part of another package/option

Illuminated M trim: $200 (didn't select this it was "added" as part of another package/option)

Drive recorder: $100

Dest/handling: $995

Total price (MSRP) $52,295

Built a 2nd one in Portimao Blue Metallic as the only difference.

Total price (MSRP) $52,945

If I haven't been on a beta build your own site with false prices that's a cracking deal.

Didn't see any option for a CF roof vs. a moon roof. Not paying $2000 or whatever it is for a CF roof to save 16lbs. I am exercising more and have lost 6lbs I think I can shave off (sweat off) another 10lbs.

Thanks for that.

Something tells me I didn't come upon the *right* M240i build your own site at the BMW USA web site.

After I posted I got to thinking and checked the model I built had a 6-speed. But there was too much missing. CF roof. Selecting an automatic vs. the 6-speed.

And the HP was 384hp not 406hp.

i believe I got sucked in by the build your own site that doesn't (yet) offer the path to building one of the M240i that at least the good people in Canada can build.

M240i isn't the M2, and it's not the car upon which this forum is based.

Yes, you are right.

Just got off the phone with my salesman at the local BMW dealer.

He confirmed the M240i is not the full blown M2 model.

The full blown M2 model is called (wait for it...) the M2.

Kind of confusing but it is what it is.

Salesman said no ordering site available yet for the 2023 M2. Said he would call me when it becomes available.

Are you new to BMWs? Has been this way for decades. Always had series (2,3,4, etc) and variants of those (M2,330,M440, etc.).

As for ordering, you're probably better off to place a deposit now. I know I did yesterday and there was already 1 ahead of me. Gonna guess allocations next month with production starting in Dec, deliveries in the spring.

So I received this from my CA this morning. I'm waiting on confirmation on the buckets as I don't see them as an option. In the UK they are the Full Merino seats so I assume they would be labeled the same in the US.

He is usually swamped on Saturdays so I will update once I receive a response.

Yes I am new to BMWs. Did kind have an interest in them some years back but any knowledge of the model numbers has escaped my memory. Never bought a BMW. Rather I ended up owning other brands of cars: 3 Porsche cars, a MINI Cooper S JCW, and 3 different Challengers, 2 Scat Packs and a Hellcat. A 2020 M-B Metris is my daily driver.

Salesman didn’t mention any deposit. Not sure but the dealer, although very good, might not be getting any allocations. It only received one M230i, and I bought that the day after it arrived. Salesman said the dealer didn’t get any more.

Will cool my jets and see how this unfolds. The new M2 looks very interesting but I might be letting my heart lead and not my head.

But I’m certainly enjoying my M230i.

Any ideas as to when the ordering guide will be available? I am assuming some of these screenshots may be coming from the guides already.
