I guess I'm the only one planning on getting a sunroof haha.

I have always loved the option of opening the sunroof on a colder day to hear the extra exhaust rumble and to let more light in the cabin. So for my sake I'm glad it's standard in the MSRP though I wish they offered a delete for those who don't want it.

The numbers I found online had the delta at ~40lbs between the steel+sunroof and a carbon roof.

EDIT: Actually there is this 2021 article regarding the M3/4:

https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/maga...ce-weight.html

It specifically says "Of course, options can add weight (e.g. electric sunroof +23kg (50lbs))" so I would assume it's ~50lbs between a carbon roof and steel+sunroof.

So they're going to charge $2600 for a cf roof despite the fact that I bet the cost to bmw isn't that different given the sunroof is standard. Smh

I'm going to have to get the carbon roof unfortunately. I'm going to skip almost everything else.

So TR, cognac interior, manual, carbon roof, 50th badges. That's it.

No extra warranties, no extra maintenance.

Sorry BMW, you're sapping my budget for other things by not having a moon roof delete and therefore giving me no choice but to sped 2600 on an option I don't need to get rid of a moon roof I don't want.

Nope, you're not the only one that wants a sunroof. This was my plan from the get-go.

Yea, total cash grab because they figure more Americans will opt for the carbon roof option, based on the previous F80/82 data, going all the way back to the E92 M3. Going through those old threads I remember some owners absolutely hated the sunroof option with a passion, they had an unhealthy obsession with the carbon fiber roof top. So BMW knows they are going to sell a lot of those in North America.

Me, I'm ecstatic; free sunroof to blow weed smoke out of, total win-win. Common sense will tell you that the added weight really makes zero difference on little Miss Piggy 🐷 here anyways..

Sunroof is good enough for me. I'm a minimalist and don't spend too much money on options.
Based on info so far, I would only spend money for metallic paint, aluminum trim and maybe Lightning Package (still undecided on that).

Same here, I will only pay for the heated steering wheel and the red paint. Rest of my choices/options are no cost...

This 100%.

Trying very hard to like this design. So far it is meh, willing to look past styling inefficiencies and look more at the specs of the car.

The fact slicktop is standard in EU and not in US, is a giant middle finger.

Like you said, these negatives keep stacking up and just start pushing people to other vehicles.

An even bigger middle finger is the CF roof is standard in the UK.

But that 13 lbs weight saving is not a steel roof with a moonroof on it, which is much heavier. What do you reckon the savings will be with the standard moonroof?

BMW's esoteric method of mapping out their pricing structure for each region is quite perplexing.

Like our neighbors in Canada is like 150 miles away from the boarder and yet they have a vastly different pricing scheme, for the same exact options, that follows no rhyme or reason to its US counterpart. 🫤

Whatever it is, the US market didn't do too bad on the base MSRP, unless you splurge for their carbon fiber add-ons, (roof, seats, trim, ect) then you can add another $8,000+ to the sticker price ($2,600 + 4,600 + $800).

Standard doesn't equal "free". Obviously it's priced into the car, with no option out of it. Anyone in the EU who would rather have passed on the CF roof, and/or wanted a sunroof, is who is getting the middle finger. US market gets to choose.

I'd do the Carbon roof begrudgingly, but prefer the steel roof only option.

Btw, what is the price of a fully loaded M2 for US currently?

Why would buyers in EU be getting the middle finger, they have a sunroof option as well. Everyone is happy in that situation. Sunroof is not priced into the car in their market.

Making sunroof not standard on US market car, msrp could have been even less.

If anything make slicktop a no cost option for US market, BMW can pocket more money not having to install a sunroof. Many owners would be more than happy to pay the current msrp with the baked in sunroof cost and be able to option that crap off.
