If anything make slicktop a no cost option for US market, BMW can pocket more money not having to install a sunroof. Many owners would be more than happy to pay the current msrp with the baked in sunroof cost and be able to option that crap off.

I, for one, am more than willing to let them keep the sunroof for free.

I am not planning to track the car so, I will go with the standard Sunroof since it is more practical and I can open sometimes to hear the beautiful sound of the S58 engine and exhaust.. don't want the wind buffeting when the windows are down..

To all of those selecting to stick with the sunroof, probably wise given that the G87 is rather portly making the CF options purely aesthetic.

what do you mean purely aesthetic? i thought the CF roof saved weight and lowered center of gravity

I have always loved the option of opening the sunroof on a colder day to hear the extra exhaust rumble and to let more light in the cabin. So for my sake I'm glad it's standard in the MSRP though I wish they offered a delete for those who don't want it.
Jaja! Not you are not the only one. I want the sunroof too!

It will, but truthfully not enough that anyone will ever notice on a vehicle that weights nearly two tons.

What's weight savings by going with the buckets and carbon roof?

All this weight savings strategy from a roof and seats is a "red herring" at best. A totally futile discussion.

Just order them if you really like them, but don't justify them as any real performance enhancement.

Photos of a G42 M240 with the roof wrapped. I recall a select few had mentioned doing this and I suspect that you would like to see these.

That’s not bad as a less expensive way to get the contrasting roof look. I would think a good wrap job is not cheap but nowhere near as much as the cf roof and then you have the sunroof if that’s something you want.

Roof wraps would probably be $300 at most, Wrapping my whole supra cost what the cf roof option cost is

I am guessing more than that as I was recently quoted $400 to wrap a small piece on a rear bumper cover around/near the exhaust. To wrap a roof I am guessing $800-1k+. The labor is vastly more than the material. In my case the product was a 3M product. A roof wrap will not last indefinitely and most certainly will have to be replaced at some point given its location.

The CF roof is an absolute no brainer for me. Didn't even think twice!

- Carbon roofs look sick
- Weight savings
- Lower center of gravity
- Prob one of the top 3 things someone would notice on the car
- Enthusiast sought after which helps resale

How durable are wrap? I decided to go with the glass sunroof. I use mine in the 335i way too much to deprive myself from having it on the M2. If headroom is comparable, I should have space for a helmet should I track the car.

However, I do love the contrast in having the roof dark. I am contemplating either a wrap or painting the roof Jet Black or BSM. If I go w/ painting, would it be better to order new primed roof trim and shark fin or having the ones coming w/ the car painted as well?

Looking for educated opinions weighting cost and durability. Note that the car will be garage kept, never driven in the winter.

I paid $300 for a black 3M wrap on my current car, which also has a sunroof. I found that it looked incredible with the contrasted paint (yellow) but did not hold up well over time. If I were to guess when the wrap started going bad, I would ballpark ~5 years. If you think about it this way, it cost me $60 a year for a visual modification that any car enthusiast would instantly notice and appreciate. If the CF roof is out of the picture, I would recommend anyone not buying the M2 in BSM to wrap their roof (I also did my mirror caps).

It should be noted that I live in Florida and do not garage my car.
