arciga18 Ceramic Pro 4 layer will cost more than every other brand’s ceramic simply because to do all those layers, is a ton of labor. I would recommend you do extensive research. On top of any PPF/ceramic, most quality shops are going to recommend at least one step paint correction. Keep in mind, if you are considering PPF and ceramic, you want to get that done before you take a rock chip to your hood/front.

I've watched a ton of videos/comparisons by Chicago Auto Pros. They seem pretty legit. Did you by chance talk to them and get an estimate?

Looks like $1250 without paint correction but you may be able to negotiate. You don't get what you don't ask for. or you can just drive into STL and get it done where I did. |

Ceramic is not some sort of clear invisible forcefield.....
It's all detailer *hands* dependent, but it needs to be polished right (whether it be 1 stage, 2 stage or 3 stage - depending on the paint needs) before it gets coated. The formula is getting in polished to whatever perfection you deem and then coating applied. Anyhow, save the money and get it coated and just a topper if you want slickness afterwards. Those *multiple* layers - depending on how good your washing technuique is, you may or may not put micro marring regardless. Paint color also dictates how much of the marring you may or may not see... Ceramic is just to make maintenance easier. It's not going to prevent scratches, chips or *car tunnel washes* if that is your thing... |

I just had just the xPel ceramic coating with a 4-yr warranty applied. The vehicle was new and hadn't been washed yet, so paint correction was not necessary. It was 800

I'm going to call it like it see it here: the money some of you are spending on getting your vehicles ceramic coated is ludicrous. All my vehicles have enjoyed high quality sealants for over 100K miles and they look absolutely fantastic. It costs me next to nothing, outside of the purchase of the sealants (Power Lock), some high quality applicators and microfibers and an hour of my time every few months.
I look at the pics Merciless58 posts and I can see the swirl marks in his front bumper from miles away. They couldn't even two-stage polish your paint for $1K? End of rant... |

Can't believe people pay these crazy numbers for applying a paint sealant to a new car. I use a good quality polymer sealant (Meguiar's M21 Mirror Glaze Synthetic Sealant 2.0 is what I use). Cost is about $20 for a bottle that will last you a while, and an hour of your labor. Most of the "ceramic" sealant people tell you to avoid machine car washes. I'm convinced that does more than the sealant itself to keep the car nice. I've got a 20 year old Porsche I've had since new. It looks fantastic and has never been detailed--just hand washes by me. Obviously, if you want chip, rock, scratch prevention you need a plastic film applied; none of these sealants will do that for you. Regardless of what treatment you go with, do it for you. Like most mods, you'll never get any of the money back on resale. |

This isn't a dig at you but any ceramic coating specialist worth his salt would have polished out all the swirl marks before ceramic coating the paintwork.

My F36 is small. I enjoy washing and waxing it. A couple times a year not quite so enjoyable to break out the clay bar, swirl remover, polish, and wax. My wife had a 3 row Infiniti SUV. Talk about exhausting doing the wash, clay bar, swirl remover, polish, and wax routine, not to mention all the time spent. When we got her X6, we opted for Ceramic for easier maintenance (for me) and the extra glossiness the ceramic provided (for her). Simple as that. |

Have not done the ppf. I was leaning away from that and instead just doing ceramic. Can use the ppf money on wheels for my other car.
