Ok I'm convinced that "charging battery" is normal and part of the efficient dynamics BMW has had for a while. I even found F generations displays showing when it was charging and such.

On our idrive 8 display, with dynamic content enabled, it'll show a cool animation when charging.

That said, it's a bit annoying if you leave it up because the changing of letters between "my BMW" and "charging battery" make you want to look at it.

This changes if you use "sport" mode displays because the dynamic portion will be horse power and torque.

I emailed developer for timeline and haven't heard back. Not sure I will. Probably gets tons of those questions everyday.

I’m sure they’re working hard to find a solution.
It might be that they have to spin up a server to authenticate the changes… I read here somewhere that ID8 is validating/expecting a token from a BMW server to make a change.

So in a way you’d probably have to change the server in iDrive to trick the system, and that server will validate the changes. Not sure how they’ll go about it.

Heard back from bimmercode, they are working on idrive8.

Edited to add that they said they have an idrive8 system in house.

Just discovered these tire settings. Let's you pick the two factory options for sizes. It sure would be nice if bimmercode could add other sizes and adjust whatever it is these settings adjust.

Sorry for shit photo.

Another thing I wish/hope it can do is auto engage the parking brake, at least for manual cars.

I can confirm the “charging” is normal. It is on modern BW’s even without hybrid or electric drivetrains. What occurs is that the alternator goes into a higher charging mode when you are decelerating, that’s it. Completely useless information on ICE cars. My 2013 X3 does the same thing but in semi-analog fashion. Ignore it.

Just coded a few things in. The B&W settings weren’t impressive but I could hear a change.

Shame there’s no way to set Sport as the default M mode, or M1 as the starting mode. Or to remove the warning before turning off TC. Nice to remove the warning on screen, and reduce the volume of the lock confirmation.

Waiting anxiously for more

Has anyone managed to turn off/code out the damn "Auto Start/Stop" feature that has no place on a performance car to begin with??

It can be permanently disabled in your settings. Why code it out?

What Justin said. In my car the ASS was NEVER on since I got it. I never touched it LOL

Just go to setup (button on console) and scroll down to ASS and turn it off.

Coding not needed

Thanks gents! I only picked up the car last night so I haven't been right into the details of the settings yet - you had to code it out on my ID7 G42 so assumed ID8 in the G87 was the same. But this even better! Great stuff.

Just remember that the ASS LED on the button has to be on for ASS to be off!

Same here. I wouldn’t even know the car had it. Hasn’t once activated. Whenever I notice the button it’s always illuminated, meaning it’s deactivated.

Bimmercode has come in very handy with my dog and the deactivated seatbelt chime.

So far also done via G20/G80 profile:

Ambient lighting to Blue
Decreased Mirror dip to 60%
iDrive 8 start-up warning deactivated
Seatbelt warnings turned off
Bower & Wilkins sound profile
Video enabled
Turn Signal to 5.

Does anyone know if you change the Drive Mode on start up to Sport will it change ours to start in Sport instead of Road?

Bummer, thanks. Not a big deal the press of a button but I have found no use for the Road mode. I prefer the Tach on the HUD and auto deactivation of the Lane Assist.

I haven’t figured out how to turn it off in my profile like in the i4.

Happy Canada Day btw!

Hopefully they’ll come up with a software update or coding option in the future.
Thanks, hope you’re gearing up for the 4th!
