I think it's viable to do so in places where it gets too cold for summer tires, but doesn't get a lot of snowfall.

In places where it snows a lot, I'd strongly suggest getting dedicated winter tires.

My quote was, "Heck you can probably find a cheap winter vehicle for the same cost as a set of dedicated winter wheels & snow tires." I then said I've had some nice winter vehicles that did not cost me an arm & a leg to purchase, nor maintain. As an example, I once picked up a '00 Cherokee with leather interior, 4x4, rust-free, no exterior or interior damage, fresh all-terrain tires, & 80k mi for $6,500. Was owned by an older couple. Kept that vehicle for 3 years & it also helped when I needed to make runs to Home Depot or tow a pair of jet skis one Summer. Only maintenance cost over those three years was for oil changes. Just because you don't think something can be true, doesn't make it "thoroughly untrue".

But as I said in my original reply, I, personally would not drive an M2 in the snow. Some others agree, some don't. There are other options, as I suggested.

every post like this proves you are entrenched in "certified boomer mentality". what year was that, 2012? you do know nice WJ JGCs now START at 10k, right? you're way off the mark here. not to mention that insurance is now 5x what it was what you probably bought that truck, and winter wheel and tire setups run you less than 4k with any amount of creativity. i reiterate: thoroughly untrue. and this doesn't address the vast improvements in safety of modern cars- and the fact that that jeep STILL needed winter tires, or it was not equipped for winter.

i'll leave it here as the point has been made beyond dispute to the casual observer and i dont want to derail the thread further.

Here's a picture of my snow tires. This one also gets over 700 miles on one tank of gas and you can take half the body off if you want to for some reason.

All winter, every day in Arizona.

You guys are insane for driving the M2 in the snow lol. Unless you’re rich, that’s insane. That pic of the Toronto red M2 in snow on page 1 makes me want to cry lol.

I’m taking mine to storage on Monday. I bought a 2000 Honda Civic with 141k on it for $1900 lmao. No dash lights, no leaks, everything works…

Damn that’s a downgrade from an M2. Must be an insane feeling switching back to the M2 after months in this haha

I bought a beat up 95 Corolla (5 speed) when I had a 350z like 20 years ago. I didn’t store my Z though. If it was dry, I would still drive the Z because I couldn’t stand driving such a POS Corolla. I drove plenty of beaters in my time but would be really hard driving that knowing I had an M car in storage.

I’m not driving my M2 in snow because I have more capable vehicles for that but I would with with winter tires and think it’s fine to do. It’s just a car at the end of the day.

Just being sure we don't think the 4S means 4 season or all season in any way. This has confused a lot of people and will be an unpleasant surprise driving into cooler / winter weather thinking you are riding on all seasons.

+1 Michelin markets that as a 3 season tire. Very cold roads, moisture and snow need winter tires.

Conti ExtremeContact DWS 06 all year long in northern VA. Don't get much snow but I grew up in upstate NY so when we do get snow here, it's a cakewalk.

Some day I'll figure out what wheels I want to use for summer and switch back and forth but for now the OEM wheels with the contis works great.

I wouldn’t like having an amazing car that I can only drive a few months a year and the rest I have to drive a beater. Each to their own tho

Gave me a chance to feel the car slide and practice counter steer. And not scrub hundreds of dollars of rubber off the tires.

After I left the bowling alley - this very early in the AM -- I got pulled over by a police officer. He was prompted to do this when he ran the plate and found it belonged to a 2001 Camaro Z28. I had removed the plate from my Camaro -- when I put it up for sale by consignment -- and put the plate on my new Boxster. I had registered the Boxster and transferred the plate but the database used by law enforcement hadn't updated yet.

I showed him all the registration paperwork and that was that.

about to take delivery in the next few weeks here in southern ontario, I used to have a modded 335i rwd that I daily drove for 4 seasons, it's a lot of fun but you need to learn how the car drives in these conditions and adjust accordingly

Works just fine, slides great, just good tires and be careful scraping the oil cooler on ice!

All seasons probably aren’t the best choice for a high performance vehicle like this. Need Max summer grip in summer and performance winters in winter. Two sets required. Even on my AWD Subarus.

Yes you will get by with all seasons just like my wife does with her A4 but it’s not ideal.
