If anyone remembers him he was featured on the front page a while back for crashing his 2 series on the dragstrip going 170 something. Absolute legend in the B58/street racing community.

Now it looks like the second time around on the streets they weren’t too kind to him. Stay safe out there everyone.

Really sobering. I've raced at multiple events with him before, but never at one of these street races.

Dre was just like me and many of you. He loved racing and was willing to spend money and push limits beyond what other people were doing in the pursuit of the passion. I've caught him multiple times at MPACT, Racemotive, Scrambul, and Maple Grove doing roll racing, drag racing, whatever, wherever.

Definitely going to be reevaluating my safety equipment. I think I'm going to get a half cage and harnesses in my next M2 when we turn it up. Things can so south so quick, and this is a perfect example.

Good reminder of why Street Racing is not worth the risk. Some of us are wise enough never to, some mature out of it, some learn the hard way.

I was no saint back in my 20’s, look back and realize how lucky to get out of that mindset before I hurt someone else or myself.

Have seen multiple people die in front of me from street racing bikes/cars, shakes you real quick.

He was doing more than street racing (there is a time, place and way if you are going to do it...no guaranteeson safety but better than being reckless). Very sad but one needs to incorporate some common sense.

On a side note, nobody comments on all the different high dollar mega built cars he had/went through...at 25 years of age. Hmmmm....

This is the same guy that crashed his car going 170+ mph on track and was lucky enough to walk away last time. Racing at those speeds is risky AF on track and even more so on the street. I'm not one to judge without getting the full story, but from multiple reports it doesn't seem like he did anything wrong per se, just got unlucky with the car losing the rear and veering out of control. My only gripe is this was on the street, can't help but think what if he killed someone else, not on purpose but because they were racing at insane speeds on the street.

I remember that video and thinking this kid is going to get hurt. It's sad that it had to come to this. You can tell he was not yet equipped with the experience required to navigate this hobby safely.

As someone who's spun out on the track at triple digit speeds, these machines require the utmost respect at how capable they are at killing a fearless driver.

Keep it on the track, people.

That on street part sounds like the doing wrong part... this is social media clout in the worst of ways.. the guy definitely broke records and was instrumental in B58 development just in the wrong ways... like you said, he already had a crash like this before, then for some reason someone thought it was a good idea to race an 8 second 1/4 mile car on slicks without safety equipment, removed weight (which it made it even more unstable) on public roads... this was an accident waiting to happen and to me its more shocking that given all of the video proof from prior racing... the NY police didn't seem to care.

My first drag race was the night of my 16th birthday. I won. I became addicted to it for a while but I stepped away after seeing several bad crashes that hurt not only the drivers but also innocent bystanders/motorists. Keep it on the track folks.

Late night car hangouts, can end up leading to shenanigans. Desire for competition and cred when most young folks have not the extra funds to race on track or family obligations.

The guy who passed away clearly had the funds to remain on the track with his hobby.

They made money bets quite frequently for the street races.

And good point, him and his crew definitely had the money, time, and resources to keep everything on a track / drag strip.

Many of his videos show them doing hard pulls and burnouts in neighborhoods, and heavy traffic.

I'm no saint, but I try to show respect for my surroundings, and limit how much fun I'm willing to have on public roads

This was my experience. Small town. No tracks. No real money. Just a poor kid with mildly built 71 Cougar (351 4bbl posi stall converter straight pipes) that my dad reluctantly helped me modify. Lots of late night parking lot hangouts that led to 1 am races on back roads. I had a great time but 2 very bad accidents scared me off somewhat.

One instance had my opponent to my left when a car turned off a side road into his path, he clipped them and went into a stand of trees. He had just finished his Maverick (beautiful candy paint, boss 302 motor out of a 69 mustang with mods etc). All survived but there were injuries and legal ramifications.

Second accident didn't involve me. 88 Corvette vs 72 Nova. Nova blew radiator leaked coolant behind it and spun but was able to regain control. Corvette hit the coolant and spun wildly into a light pole and signs breaking in half. Left driver with broken back and pelvis and in a coma for a while.

I raced here and there after that but rarely and only if I felt it was safe(of course it never really was).

Also, important to note that the speeds we were hitting in the 80s are nothing compared to what kids have access to today with the level of power these modern cars can easily obtain.


I agree this guy sounds like he had the money but not the wisdom to take it to the track. Sad for him and his family. I hope nobody else was hurt.

There's big money on the line for some of these crazy fast builds
