Key Cover
Has anyone found a decent key cover for their keys. I've heard the G42 keys are slightly larger than normal keys so want to find one that fits.
Thanks |

Found mine on Amazon. Very cheap, only like 20 something dollars for two. One completely clear, and the other smoke clear. And yes, they are a very tight fit to get on, but they do fit. If you're interested, I'll put the Amazon link later.

Bear in mind, these aren't fancy or expensive. The idea for me was to get something that will protect the key fob from damage and wear, and maybe I will get something nicer in the future. And as I said, when you put these on it is a very very tight fit, to the point that you almost think they are too small, but they will go on. They have the clear one, and the smoke one,. When I ordered mine they had a two pack, one clear, and one smoke. |

Not at all. The only button I really use is the circle BMW button three times for the remote start. I'm assuming you're asking if you have to press the buttons multiple times for them to work? If so, then no. Everything works as it should, so far, I've only had the covers on for probably a month now

fyi for other folks who may purchase, an easy way to get the thing to fit over the key fob is to use a paper clip to guide the plastic over the corners and edges, wedged in between, if that makes any sense. probably an easier way to describe that, but my brain. |

I really made it a point to emphasize that fitment wasn't exact . But at just $10 per cover, i made it work |

since the key fob is bigger, I ordered two covers but neither fit and returned them. The only one that fit is the plastic one and I don't like it so I make a leather one myself.

Yeah apparently not a lot of vendors are aware the new key is bigger. I wanted to reuse the carbon fiber cover from wife’s X3 and it was too small. No way was the new FOB getting in that case.

My wife's "22 Telluride is our first "Push to Start" vehicle and I bought some plastic CF looking covers for both key fobs. The covers made the buttons harder to push, especially the Remote Start button on the back side. After using for over a year and figuring out that the key almost never leaves the purse or pocket, I ditched the cases and put these leather loops on that I had personalized with our phone numbers on one side, and a message to call number for a reward if found on the other. We learned that we don't really need to use the fob to get into the car so the keys won't get any wear on them like we are used to.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a great piece of insurance if you do drop your fob somewhere and you get notified. |

I bought the official BMW part for this because I'm a sucker. My only complaint is that it does make the fob significantly thicker. But it does prevent accidentally activating the panic mode, which I've been known to do
overall would I say it's worth it? eh, if you like leather and don't mind it being fat then yes, it's nice! color: Sattelbraun part # 82-29-2-408-818 Last edited by PL4NCK; 04-10-2024 at 06:03 PM.. |
