Live Cockpit Pro (Including HUD)

Seems like for $1100 you're essentially paying for just the head-up display despite the phrasing "Live Cockpit Pro (including HUD)".

Are you equipping your G87 with it?

I was one of those that could take it or leave it when BMW began offering HUD. I think in this day and age you tend to date the interior if you do not spec it.

I had it on one of my G05s (I am on my fourth one now, long story) and I did not care for it. I would not delete it if it was standard equipment but definitely not paying extra for it either.

I find the HUD distracting and unnecessary. I can see its benefit if you're tracking the car, otherwise it's not a must have IMO.

I'd get it just bc of how terrible the normal gauges are now and I don't want to have to look at them. The HUD will give me all the info I need

It’s part of the premium package in Canada,so i will definitely be getting it.So live cockpit pro in idrive 8 doesn’t give any additional info in the screen like it did for idrive 7?

I have the HUD on my G82 and I never pay attention to it. If anything I find it distracting. On the track in M sport mode, it is nice though because you can see the shift lights and the display is much larger in M Mode, but again, its distracting to ME, maybe not for others.

Deep dive into iDrive 8. This should answer any questions one might have.

I absolutely love HUD and wouldn't buy a car without it.

Count me out. I'll use that $1100 towards my Full PPF Xpel Fusion(ceramic embedded) and tint.

Same - It gives me all the information I need speed and navigation wise without me having to look anywhere else.

Funny my mindset is the opposite. I love the dash and prefer to look there.

Back when gauges were round and you could use your peripheral to see your speed and rpm, I felt the same. The new hoffmeister kink shaped digital gauges don't do it for me. Wish they had a setting for traditional round gauges in the menu, at least for M models

Do we have any details on what this package includes? Just the HUD or is there more?

As far as I can tell it's just HUD. But the item line says 'Live Cockpit Pro w/HUD'. So I'm not completely sure. Seems based on the price and compared to M3/4 and M240 package that the $1100 would be just HUD.

I liked it at first in my M240i but now don't really care if it's there or not. I initially requested it on my G87 build but plan on letting my CA know to remove it (softens the blow a bit for having to get the CF roof just to not get the damn moonroof)

Ain't no way I'm passing on this cool feature that's finally available on a 2 Series - especially since it's the M version. Then possible have to live with regrets.

At first, my stepdad didn't want to pay for the head-up display option on his new Acura RDX but now it's his favorite feature in the vehicle. Don't sleep on this option 😉

Definitely getting it. Wife has it on the X5 and we love it. Had it on my F30 years ago. Only downside is wearing polarized glasses will impair your view, but I learned to slightly angle my head to see it.
