Ordered my g87!

Hello everyone!

I finally ordered my g87, paid my deposit and got a production number! I waited months at my home dealership for an allocation but to no luck. I had a friend reach out and connect me to a dealership that gave me an allocation immediately and it’s awaiting production now. I’m so excited to get my M2 and pair it next to my F80 M3.

Give me some suggestions on how to be patient till I get my car 🤣

Don't understand why you need to order and wait. There are so many examples on the lots

Because I want to go through the process from order to seeing it in the lot. It’s my first new M car. Plus there aren’t any in the lot based on the options I selected for my spec.

Maybe the ones that are for sale are not the spec that he wants? Maybe he wants port installed M Performance parts installed?

I hear ya…I will be going through the same thing. I put my deposit down last week and am waiting. Looking forward to the process of getting the call, tracking the progress, and picking it up.

Exciting!

I'm towards the final stages of the waiting game...car has arrived at the port (near you, in Galveston) and is yet to be assigned to a carrier to be transported to my dealership. Hoping it won't be much longer.

As for tips...no clue. I'm antsy!

Find a dealer with an M2 on the lot and pretend to be interested so you can test drive it. Tell him it’s “not what you were expecting” and that you are “underwhelmed.” Just try and hide how awesome the car is look on your face when driving.

Congrats on the new M2! I don't know how I got through the waiting period and maintained my sanity. The answers and support from the people on here made it much easier to have realistic expectations. My sales rep also sandbagged the whole time and said it would take weeks longer than it actually did.

Congrats on getting an allocation!!! It is great to be able to select all the options you want and not to compromise on the lot!

I put money down at the dealer 5 months ago, still waiting for my allocation in MA.... I guess there is less allocations in east coast!

That is what was appealing to me about getting this car. I thought about a CPO Porsche and though it would be an awesome car I would be at the mercy of what the market had for sale. With the M2, I get pick everything I want which is important (and fun) to me.

I was able to do this with my Tesla and though there were only 4 options I could pick from getting the email inviting my to configure my car, getting the phone call stating production was starting, and then logging on seeing a VIN was such a great experience! The wait however (30 months and a day) was brutal!!
