Toronto Red

Alright Gents (and ladies),

As I have some time to wait until I get an allocation for my M2 I have been pondering the many mysteries of the BMW Car Gods. One of those mysteries if exterior color.

Currently my first choice is ZB but I was also thinking about Toronto Red. I have seen ZB in person (actually that is the only color I have seen in person) and I really liked it.

I do like that idea of a red car...looks slick but I have not seen Toronto Red in person. Some in this community and in some Youtube videos say there is a little bit of orange in the red. Is that true? I have also seen some videos where it just look red with no hint or orange to it.

So I ask, which is it? Is it a solid red or is there a hint of orange as well?

Many Thanks!

I have seen the TR on an X5 M Comp and it was very wicked looking with the black rims and shadowline package. I would say it has a hint of orange but a very red orange where you'll catch just a hint of orange. To my eye it was very red and a great color for a sports car. My personal hang up with it on the M2 is that there isn't a black caliper option on the M2 so you are either monocramatic with red calipers or going with blue and it didn't fit the theme I have in mind (I ended up with BG with blue calipers).

Yes it has an orange undertone. That's what sold me on it because I love orange cars (I have an inferno orange metallic Z06).

The dealer key tag on my fobs when I picked it up said orange on them, and my Xpel invoice also said red/orange on it. So obviously people see the orange in the color.

I own the M2 in TR, it is not a pure red color nor orange, something in between.

Initially, I was going to go w/ TR as other member here had significant early exposure to ZB and were turned off by it. I got the see both in person on HEAs cars locally from different dealers when the first units arrived. I saw TR first and the next day I saw ZB. I then changed to ZB.

I haven't seen anyone else corroborate the same experience as me w/ TR. You can definitely see the orange hue (a plus for me). However, I could also see a tiny hint of hot pink (not great). Once I saw ZB, I loved it and now I have one.

I am still on the "hold" list w/ a deposit in case they introduce the a true Individual program for this car. I might to trade in for the real color I would like to have.

Why are you still waiting on an allocation if I may ask? Is there no other dealerships within 300 miles that have some ready to go?

Would you consider just waiting for 2025 models to drop and maybe that will expand your color horizons? I bet they get some new cool ones that may rival current.

I'd go TR over ZB but that's just my opinion. I think cars like JABCAT look amazing in TR with black wheels and blue calipers and then a CF roof. The more I think about it the more I know I would have went TR had I ordered .

Now, my wife, who had a Melbourne Red 430i and loved that color, does not like TR because of the orange undertones. I get it. I look at it and see red, she looks at it through the eyes of a color expert and sees the difference which is quite stark to her. Anyway, TR is beautiful and I don't think you can go wrong. 👍

Dealership i am working with in southern California called me this morning to say when they went into the system to put in my build. The system wanted to charge me $2,350 for ZB. They are looking into it to see if its a system problem. Anyone else ever experience anything like this before?

Hi Geighty7 there are some M Performance parts I would like to purchase (HAS kit and front air inlets). Also I would like to finish paying off my wife's car so I am not in any rush rush. My dealership had a list of 4 deep before me and told me it is about a year wait. I do not mind the wait as it would allow my to drop a good downpayment on the car and it might get me to 2025.

See I do not see any orange hue in the car. Whatever it is, it looks amazing. I would def do black or gold wheels.

That’s a smart move as monthly would go down significant. I highly recommend any HAS kit and some good quality carbon pieces.

2025 line up is poised to have some excellent color choices, so you might have a (good) dilemma on your hands in choosing lol.

Toronto Red has an orange hue in sunlight. I've been living with it for 9 months. It's a beautiful color and gets a ton of attention and comments. Better than any other color currently available on this car if you ask me, but I'm biased. Black is a second close. Please keep ordering grey ones though

It’s because you haven’t seen it in person.

I once approached my parked car to a woman with her arm extended over the quarter panel debating her husband. Her jacket was orange so she had her sleeve on top of the car saying it was orange.
The husband (the owner of an alpine white F30) was saying it was red. She asked me who won the debate. I said both won. But the name of the colour is Toronto red.

It’s amazing. I probably wouldn’t have gotten it if it were pure red.

Toronto Red does have a hint of orange. I definitely would pick TR over ZB but in the end I went with BSM.

Next to a pure red car, it becomes obvious:
