JL Audio SUB in a G87
Not sure if anyone has attempted but I added a 10inch JL Audio w3v3-2 paired with a Kenwood x802-5 amp to power the sub and underwear woofers. All made possible through the GXX technic pnp harness using the wavtech LOC. Peep my stealth boom knob on the center console
![]() Currently waiting for the stealth sub box to arrive. Definitely wakes sup the HK system which was lacking that deep low bass.

Everything is the same as any sub install. Sub, amp, power cabling. What I purchased is in the first post. The technic pnp add a sub harness makes it so you don’t have to tap any wires and truly pnp.
There are a lot of DIY add sub installs on bimmerpost for E F G chassis, fundamentally it’s all the same just different car. Rn it’s just a sub in a sealed box. Il post when my stealth sub box arrives

I worked with him to make the first one so the pic is the first one he’s made for the g87.

Yeah, my parts are coming in this week. Ordering alpha one amp to plug into stock system. That amp has line and remote outs. Going to send that to a JL audio 600w amp with JL audio 10w3 sub.

Interested in a components shopping list to do this completely (I realize I'm asking someone else to post my homework). I've just been out of the audio game for a few years and don't want to miss anything and be stuck mid install.
Went to a local audio shop and I think getting and installing my own components makes much better $$ sense (minus a custom enclosure later) and likely more fulfilling to do myself |

So happy I found this thread! I have a 2025 M2 on order and it will probably be in around September. I'm looking into sticking a stealth type sub in the trunk pretty quickly.
I'm moving from a BRZ which I installed a JL audio stealthbox into. 10TW3 sub. Rockford fosgate 500 mono amp. LC2I line out controller. I'll be taking these off the BRZ and just sticking it into the M2 with a visual ice box too. Looks like a slick install. Really great integration of the knob with the idrive stuff! I might try that on mine but the manual idrive layout looks a little different. |

The manual center console is different will need to find a different spot. I recommend getting a 5 channel amp so you can power the underseat subs as well

But check your amp for a switch for auto sensing on/off or a selector for auto signal sensing on or 12v trigger. Know that sometimes rca signals may not have enough voltage to trigger signal sensing auto on/off. Jim

It turned out amazing. I’m loving it. Probably gonna swap the underwear subs out with the bavsound subs for even better. But it’s loud and clean now, even with volume maxed out.
