Looks like the car slipped when transitioning out of the prepped area, a natural instinct to tap the brakes makes it even worse to control. A parachute could've saved the day; you see racers deploy the parachute before even crossing the beam and only brake once the parachute is deployed and keeping the car straight.

The car held up amazing considering the speed and no roll bar, he was fortunate to walk out of that one.

That was my main takeaway - the fact that he hit a Jersey Barrier at 150+ , and the car held up very well.

At 5 min 35 seconds you see the car slightly pull to the left. Then you see him steering to the right to try and correct it

Not being critical of his driving but if it was me, I would have had both hands on the wheel at those speeds. This is why I prefer paddle shifting when I am in the twisties - much easier to do smaller wheel corrections with 2 hands vs 1.

I’m wondering what was the official reason why they are not covering. Driver fault? Track road?

It looks like he might have:
1 - Pushed water from the lifting the head at the big end
2 - There was a some sort of water/fluid on the track
3 - It just broke loose after the prep

It looked like it broke loose under power versus chassis upset after lifting off the gas.

Tough break but anything running 9’s or quicker should have all safety equipment. That car also needed a chute.

Wow. No, regular insurance won’t cover drag strip wrecks. Car was tuned and running slicks. He should have had a cage minimum. Lucky kid.

That pull could have been a blowout but no way to know without additional footage, I cannot imagine that slicks would just let go like that unless cold.

Normal car insurance doesn't cover any track activities. You need special track insurance for that.

Its all good, he got away and the car has a couple of deep scratches.

What frustrates me/terrifies me is that the side and curtain airbags did not deflate. How are you supposed to get out of the wreck without having a cutting tool? I thought they loose co2 in a couple of seconds after inflating.
