E92 M3 vs. other cars?
What will be some competitions against new E92 M3?
So far we know that... V8 NA producing a bit below 450 HP/ low or mid-300 torque(?) about 3400 lbs(?) Just wondering, I was talking to my friends about new E92 M3 and we got into a discussion. |

Hmm. RS4, C55 AMG, IS 350/500 (whatever people want to compare it to, it will still rape them both) Porsche Carrera, etc..etc..
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Im sure there are alot of cars. The M3 sets the benchmark and everybody has it in their sights when they design their respective car. But they can only imitate not dupicate. (And they don't even do that well ) |

well i am on borderline w/ new GTR but it is more expensive than new M3 according to some rumors
does any of you know how it will run against vipers and 500GT by ford? i know that it looks ugly and etc., but an IS350 isnt even a match IMO if JK42's info is right or close but we know that lexus is making new "supra" under lexus division. that's gonna be a challenge |

From everything I have read there is no "new Supra". If when you say that Lexus is working on it, you are referring to the LF-A concept, then I see what you mean, but it is rumored to be VERY expensive... more like an Audi R8 competitor.
Reactions on the GTR's looks have been mixed. I like it, in my opinion. It looks aggressive and modern, while still giving reference to its heritage. |

I personally love the new skyline, I think its beautiful, but Its price is going to be a killer. We'll have to see what new tech goodies nissan has for us. Intelligent torque distribution has always been there game, with the skylines, and the new ATTESA-ETS system, will be able to send 100% of the torque to the rear wheels, when need. Talk about a good all wheel drive system. (EVO/STI lovers, eat your heart out) And it won't give the M3 a run for its money, it will destroy it. They are not in the same class.
As for the corvette, that car is on a different level. (Z06) The price may be the same, but thats because they can't sell it for more money, its still a damn chevy. It is a greatly innovated car, and I love it, but can you guys imagine the upcoming C6 Corvette SS 650+HP |

Reason why is that most of us have a tremendous passion for BMW. But other reasons including the fact that, the M3 will out perform all of the cars in its class, and plenty of those that aren't. It has always been, and will continue to be a great car, it combines a great sports car, with a hint of luxury/status.
With the exception of the CSL's, the M3 has always been a sleeper. For the price you pay you can get dozens of cars that are just as fast or that look faster. But for BMW, its not about that, its about being able to destroy the competition while looking good and feeling comfortable. |

Owning a 350z now and seeing how the Nissan dealers are with that, I can't imagine putting a track designed, technology filled, $85K car like the GTR into their "mechanic's" hands. That's a scary thought. |

Hmm...just to let you know. They don't call them mechanics anymore. They call them technicians ( I'm one. Well, in training at least). You can be sure that, the 85K sports car will be taken care of much better than the majority of private "mechanics" that are around. All of the techs nowadays have to attend classes on new cars that come out, that cover all of the troubleshooting and whatnot.

Sorry to offend, but that doesn't change the fact that the "technicians" at my Nissan dealer suck despite all of the training.
I am sure, since you actually seem to care about what you are doing, you will be much better. |

Haha no offense taken buddy, but you can be sure that when I start at BMW as a full time tech, I will be treating each car as my own. I have had too many family members ripped off by dealers and I know the feeling.
I will let all of you SoCalers know when and where I start working, and recommend you to come in So that you can have a peice of mind. I am hoping to start as an apprentice technician at Savage BMW in Ontario, California while im at tech school. I apply next week, so wish me luck! -Pete. |

Haha for sure.
But yeah the east coast does blow JK. But I never saw the attraction to it. Like New York etc..big cloudy city...horrible weather. LA has sunny skies 90% of the year, beaches, BEAUTIFUL WOMEN! , bars , I mean its almost perfect. However, the traffic at 7AM & 5PM is terrible, but other than those times, people just exaggerate, its not that crazy over here. I mean its better than New York, where you gotta walk everywhere. Southern California rocks! :rocks: PS. The best cars in the USA are over here too...More BMWs, MBs, Audis, Ferraris, Lambos than anywhere other than they're homeland & Monaco. lol |

A rice-rocket (no offense) vs. a BMW... mmm. Let me give that some thought.... I think I'll go for the BMW.
All of us could buy Evos and Subarus if we wanted to instead of the old E46 M3 too, but most of the people on this board chose the M3? Why? Superior handling, quality and countless reasons that have made the BMW marque unique and one of the most respected brands in the world. I've driven the Evo's and Subarus, and I am not impressed. Never have been. Best regards, Jussi |
