timeframe when dealers may get HEA cars?

My brother is a service manager at bmw and usually sends me pictures when cars arrive at pre delivery inspection which with the M3 release was about 1-2 weeks prior. So far he says he has not seen the new m2 nor does he know when it will arrive. Being the release is next weekend, does anyone know when dealers should get release cars? I have gotten to the “annoyed my sales guy” point with asking him and know a lot of you may have some insight.

When I was in discussion with a dealer about buying an M2 HEA car after the launch I was told back on March 17 the car had arrived at Baltimore and was on a truck on the way to the dealer.

I have not contacted the salesman for an update.

Just checked the dealer's web site. Looks like the car is still in transit.

That's one slow truck...

Believe the launch is April 12. And I was told that BMW would allow the vehicles to be sold starting April 15.

The dealer has my firm offer to buy the car at a price we have agreed upon. So I expect the salesman will be in touch when the car arrives or at least when he wants me to complete the purchase.

April 8th is the release. Test drives begin April 1st.

I will post this here even though it has previously been posted in multiple threads.

The press embargo expires on April 2nd. Retail Stop Sale expires April 8th.

I think the confusion is when they'll actually get to the dealerships. We know it won't be available until then but it doesn't necessarily imply that all dealerships will have their HEA car right at that first date.

Allegedly, they begin being wholesaled to centers on April 1st. Based on that they have got a week or so remaining.

They're being held at port until 4/1. Then it's just a matter of days.

Let’s see how quickly they ship them. Once released to the carrier it has been hit or miss for us. Mostly a miss, aka slow going. The drivers appear to not be willing to work since Covid.

Note, for those that do not know, the carrier trucking is sublet by BMW NA.

No one knows the answer to your question. Your sales guy doesn't know. We don't know. But if you keep asking, you might get an answer you like, even if it is wrong.

Or you might get an answer you dont like. I have run into that where I have my deposit down. Turns out no truth/honesty at a certain S Fla dealership (I wont even mention loyalty for being a repeat customer).

Yeah I'm afraid of the amount of cars that will be waiting to get thrown on the trucks. Guess we'll see soon enough but I expect them all to arrive that week.

My SM believes ours probably will not arrive until after the 8th. Going into the 2nd week of April. Edit, and it is sold.

Is it possible to do a port collection?
It’ll ship into Galveston, which is an hours drive from Houston - I could cut out the middle man!

It seems like if they're going to be at dealers in time for the launch window, and delivery on 4/8, they need to be rolling by tomorrow.

I'm really counting on being able to take delivery on the 8th.

Probably overly optimistic but nevertheless I will wake up at 5:45am, check my app and expect to see my car in transit or a text from my SA by 8am that it is :lol

Mine is stuck in "Ready for transport", not expecting it on April 8th anymore even though initial conversation was late Match/early April.
