Unhappy SNOW!!

Hey everyone,
After 2.5 long months my Alpine White 325i is finally ready for pick-up tonight . The problem is, I have sports tires and looking outside the snow has started to come down quite hard in Toronto (well played mother nature ). Do you guys think I should drive (slowly) the 30 minutes to my house, or should I just pick-up on Saturday.

Any advice is appreciated, esspically from anyone who has driven on snow with sports tires.

Play it safe and wait, you don't to ruin your car's finish either on delivery. I did when a storm came RIGHT as I drove out of the service center.

Get the Snow Tires First!

I'm in the same boat as you, e9TY.
My car arrives in Ottawa on the 28th of Dec. I bought Non run-flat snow tires and rims, and will have BMW install them. This way, the sport tires will stay clean. I plan to sell these and get 18" later.
Also will have peace of mind when driving home in the snow.
Congrats...

Just took a look at your weatherforcast. I think I'd either wait, or buy snow tires and wheels (esp if you were planning on doing so anyway) and taking them to the dealer to have them fitted before you drive off. Just an idea.

Sports tires in cold weather = no grip.

Sports tires in cold weather with a snow storm in force = suicide.

Wait, buy the winter tires that your car deserves, install them and then drive.

Congratulations !!!

Thanks everyone for talking me out of it, I have rescheduled to pick-up Saturday, and I am going buy snow tires and wheels for the dealership to install.

Seeing as it just took me 2 hours to drive the 20 minutes to my house I suggest waiting.

We're not getting a light snow here in Toronto.
We're goin to get up to 20cm! So DO NOT pick up your car tonight.

I'd let it stay all snuggly and warm at the dealership!
