On a related note....PS4S ended up with huge chunks of thread just plain gone. Weird - like one of the center ribs on one of the rear tires was just gone for about 1/3 of the circumference of the tire (I have never seen that).

Have now put pZeros on 826M wheels that I bought from an M3 forum member before my M2 even arrived.

Let's see how the pZeros do on track. On the road they are a lot harsher and nosier when hitting road bumps and highway joints.

Yes. A forum member sold me his take-off 826M G80M3 wheels with factory star spec PZ4 tires.

826M looks great on the M2, by the way and are 22lbs lighter (all 4 total) than the G87 930M. I'm turning my 930M into a winter set with winter tires I bought from another G87 forum member. Both great guys.

Will do. Frankly they are probably both good tires. I always thought that people were making too much out of the PS4S vs Pzero Star Spec tires. But I can tell you that back to back on the same roads, same day, same tire pressures, the Pzero is a tad firmer. Let's see if that translates into better feel on track.

After I roast these, I need to see what to buy next - was leaning towards Nakang CRS (Jackie Ding runs those), but I read that they are supper harsh on the street.

Not really drifting, but spent a half day on a wet skidpad and dry autocross course just having fun. I didn't care about lap times on autocross, so was doing some forced power slides pretty much everywhere

P.S. Either I suck at the wet skidpad or the M2 is somewhat hard to keep stable on the skid. I was struggling to do even one full circle sideways. The torque comes in very abruptly at initiation, and it's easy to run out of lock before catching it if you over do it.

That sounds more like why you got the tire damage. Tracking in itself shouldn't damage them like that.

Oh, I was lighting them up, then was driving over a puddle in between runs to cool them off. I fully expected them to be worn out - but was not expecting fully 1/3 of a rib to be completely gone, plus a bunch of other missing chunks.

I've done the same thing with my Camaro SS1LE with GYSC3 tires and had zero issues of chunking.

Yes, for next tires it’ll depend on your usage. If mostly on track, going aggressive might be good. But they’ll suck on the street… it’s always a compromise. If you’re using them mostly on the street it might be a bad idea to go with a tire that does well on track like those Nankangs. They’ll be noisy, wear quickly, suck on wet etc…

Good insight. I literally just put the PZEROs on last night. I'm looking forward to driving them on track - I should be able to compare some lap times vs PS4S.

The P Zeros aren't great on track, they're decent for a couple laps, but get super "greasy" with heat. I think I prefer the Michelins, but it's kind of a moot point because neither hold a candle to 200 TW tires.

The PS4S is still a very respectable street tyre

But my current personal preference tyre is the Continental SC7

Which 200TW would you recommend for stock sizes? Nankang CRS, AD09? Something that is not super harsh on the street, but will last longer on track?

I'm not knocking the PS4S Star Spec Tire. It was a a wonderful street tire, and I did maybe 100 road course miles on them, before playing sideways to finish them off. I was just surprised how it shed huge chunks of the center rib. Just sharing the expecience.

I'm not sure the Conti SC7 are readily available in the US. There are so many G8X owners selling their OEM tires and/or wheels+tires nearly new, that it is tempting to just keep on buying those

I run Hankook RS4's on my M2 - they wear like iron. If you're doing a decent amount of track duty, get a proper alignment - that'll save your tires. Brake fluid and track pads too....
