Brake air duct grills

Any cons with permanently removing the brake air duct grills/covers? The manual says to remove for track driving to allow more air to cool the brakes but I have got a small bird and lots of leaves stuck in these air channels before so wondered if I can leave them off?

Wouldn't that simply allow all that debris to reach your brakes? That seems even less desirable.

Why? You're not driving on the street in any manner that requires them to be removed.
