M-Performance brake VS Brembo
I would like to get an opinion which brake i should get, should i get brembo GT (only the front ) or get the M-performance brake front and rear ?
In where i live, the front brembo costs about the same price as the whole set of m-performance brake ? brembo GT front only / Mperformance 1 set costs about $4500 here. does brembo gives out alot of brake dust same as the M-performance ? what would it be ? |

Well the mperformance brakes as well as other 335i front brakes are made by brembo. I would say the gt kit is probably more aggressive and better performing.

My calipers say brembo on the back of them. Mperformance brakes is a full kit and gorgeous. I'd go with that.

how can you justify spending so much money on brakes for a 328i, why not pickup some 335i brakes for 5-600 in the classifieds. much bigger and would be great for you since they were made for a heavier car.

well the m performance caliper size is the same as the 335i front caliper size, just painted a different color. could get the 335i brakes and paint it for a fraction of cost.

I thought that the MPerformance brakes were an upgrade for both the 335 and 328?

They're not the same. The front discs on the Mperf are 370mm & the rears are 345mm. The standard 335i front discs are 340mm & the rears are 330mm.

For the same price I would get the actually Brembo bbk with plans to add the rear kit later. I love my Mperf kit but theres something about the actual Brembo kits that are just sex. I wish I would have done that but just can't really justify that much money on brakes when its just for looks for me.

I have the M Performance Brakes and sure they look nice, but they absolutely blow away the stock setup in terms of performance and feel.

They're not the same. The rear calipers are of a totally different design & the front calipers are different as evidenced by the different part numbers of their respective brake pads. I'm comparing EU spec for EU spec so the different part numbers will not be due to different pad materials.

If u're not referring to 2NH then the whole setup is just the standard setup, the only difference between M-sport & other lines in this case is the pad materials (EU-spec standard pads for M-sport models & low dust US-specific pads for other lines). The individual parts between the standard setup & 2NH/M-perf are not interchangeable, so the standard calipers for a 335i is different to the calipers fitted to cars with 2NH (or M-perf). |

I drove a car at the Performance Center and the dealership with them and I have to say they are lack luster. I believe Turner Motorsports had the same conclusion and I believe i have see a few people have issues even getting them adjusted right. I glad you like it but I was underwhelmed compared to a true BBK.

What made them lackluster? I have driven several cars with big brake kits and these M Performance Brakes are at the very least on par with the others I've "tested." All that said, you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

very nice topic, the brakes is on my "next mod" list.
i m just saying, why do we need bbk if we only have 340ish hp w/ MPPK or 380 hp with JB4? it seems to me mperf brakes are fine since the car isnt that big and most of us dont track the car. |

@makonto, in case you haven't pulled the trigger yet, I would definitely advise against upgrading only the front brakes, as this will throw off the brake balancing of the car (which could result in a decrease in stopping performance, among other things.)
The main benefit to M Perf brakes (in addition to looks of course) is the fade resistance.
