128i Exhaust
Hi all, i know this has probably been asked many, many times, but here it goes again...Is putting the stock 135i muffler onto a 128i, do the same thing as putting the BMW Performance exhaust for the 128i on? Or is the stock 135i muffler same as the stock 128i muffler?
I have a 135i muffler to use...now im just wondering wether or not its worth the work, and loss of warranty on my car? thanks in advance for any input.

Not sure about your question. I have the 135i muffler from my car with only 4 miles on it sitting in my basement looking for a good home... I had the dealer install a BMW performance exhaust before I took delivery of the vehicle.

I have a 135i muffler that a buddy gave me, i have a 128i, he told me that the stock 135i muffler isd the same as the 128i performance muffler. I just want to know if its worth putting the 135i muffler on my 128i, or will it end up being the same thing as what came on my 128i?

I checked it out, and it sounds good, but that car has all custom work with exception of the 135i muffler, im not sure i wanna mess up my warranty, though maybe axelbacking the 135i muffler hurts it the same.

Next, the simple answer to your question is no, the 135's exhaust is not the same as the 128's "performance" exhaust. The stock 135 exhaust has the same butterfly valve as the stock 128, which leads me to conclude that they're the same if not similar. The performance exhaust has no flap and a different muffler (where the sound is generated). Note also: putting a 135 part on a 128 doesn't necessarily mean your warranty is going to stay intact. Speak to your dealer, see what they say. Don't trust what you read on forums, because most of us are just speculating anyway. If you really want a louder exhaust, go with the performance exhaust. People really seem to like it. |
