BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

Yes, it is an overlay. The embroidery ('M2') is customizable and can be blank if you don't like it.

Installation Guide

1. Remove HUD Cover if You Have

2. Remove Speaker Cover

3. Remove Both Driver and Passenger Side Vents

4. Remove the Infotainment Display Panel

Please refer to this link for trim removal
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1703688103

5. Remove A-pillar so that the cover edge can be further secured

Start to install the cover, please 1) align first before removing the back adhesive liner; 2) remove the liner zone by zone to carefully install

When installing the cover, tuck the cover in edge space

More info needed. I've covered most of the interior pieces in my Z06 with Alcantara, so the DIY doesn't bother me. Is this a pre-cut piece, where was it sourced, etc.?

Depending on how easy or difficult it is to remove the dash, covering it with Alcantara looks pretty easy. There aren't any tight curves to deal with or odd shapes. Anyone have a how-to on removing the dash?

I've covered most of the interior pieces in my Z06 with Alcantara, and the only thing that makes it difficult are really tight curves in a piece. The M2 upper & lower dash along with the glove box look pretty simple to do.

Very cool, I probably would’ve opted out on the M2 embroidery.

It looks great but how about info on DIY?
Does the dash need to come out or is it an overlay? Do you have any videos or pics of the process?

What a tease. And I second what others said, that embroidered ‘M2’ looks cheap.

That honestly looks really great.

I want to do the Alcantara knee pads (similar to the M Perf interior trim), and I’m sure Alcantara headliner would be great looking too.

Is this kind of alcantera DIY kit your refering to?(link listed below) I have been looking into adding alcantera to my dash aswell, but all ive been able to find is 2 options. Take it to a custom interior shop which would run me about $1,800 or I found these DIY kits which I really cant find any reviews on them. They make for all different car types and models. I was also able to watch an install video directly from the company who makes these dash kits, and even then it seemed like torture installing this type kit. There is no removal of the dash or even loosening for added room to maneuver, just straight up laying it on top, lining it up and then pushing and jamming the fabric into gaps of the dash with a little plastic tool. So between the instalation video, t fhe manner in which the install takes place, I had very little confidence in the final product looking good. But look at yours!

Anyway Jerry, from what i can see yours looks like it was done by a custom interior shop, It came out really nice, no extra fabric, no loose parts or folds. I wouldnt have even thought otherwise untill you mentioned DIY. Is this the type of kit u mean by DIY?? Would appreciate your feed back on the brand/type of DIY kit and some info on your experience installing. Many Thanks.

the m3 embroidery looks very crooked. leave it out, and if you cant get that straight it makes one question where else can be issues. just thinking out loud here, no hating.

Clean install, well done. Only caveat is that “M2” embroidery. It would be perfect without it.
