Ages of M2 owners
like these post every different chassis i’m in. i was hesitant that the m2 was too childish but from what i am seeing it looks like the m2 owners are older compared to the g80/82 crowd
like to get an idea on other owners age and the reason they chose the M2 i’ll start Just turned 43 and wanted a small sports car that a lot of aftermarket support and easy to make power and did not break the bank. i came from a m8 and several previous M’s. I do have another ride for the family. Summary midlife crisis |

I'll be 34 next month. Ordered my 2nd M2 on 8/24. Hoping to get it before my birthday.
It's the best car in my opinion to do what I'm trying to do. Wanted a modern turbo bmw coupe I could turn up to 1000hp and go drag racing, then take it on a rally, then go to dinner. My last one did everything I wanted it to. It's been almost two months and not having it has made my next one a forever car. Last edited by rons e92; 10-09-2024 at 08:18 PM.. |

I’m 43 as well and ordered at the end of August, hoping to get mine before my birthday as well, was looking for more power and out of the box track-ability, coming from a Subaru WRX, my first BMW. Really appreciating the breadth and quality of the BMW community!

36 here. I do have plans to get an M3 Comp xDrive eventually too but the 6MT G87 seemed more special to me to get first.
Owned multiple WRXs, multiple GTIs, a Mk6 Golf R, a B9 A4 and S4, and an 8V RS3 before this. |

I picked up my M2 this past January the month I turned 43. It is the perfect car for me and tons of performance for the price point. Once BMW released the specs in Oct 2022 I knew I had to have one so i made it happen.

OP, you should add a poll up top with 5 year increments starting at age 20 (god help us all). seeing the data would be interesting.
i'm 30 and took delivery Nov last year. replacing my B8 S4 as the year round daily. my guess is that the age spread here will be quite diverse and closer to CTR ownership statistics than M3. |

Figure my small sport coupe days are numbered. Considered a C8 but just didn’t like it, plus I couldn't bring myself to trade my Vans for a pair of white New Balance. I guess I have been goin througha mid-life crisis since my 20s. I have always had to have a "fun" car. This will be my 7th BMW and my second M car. Previously had a M4 in 2015. |

I'm 33, going to turn 34 in the next few months.
I ended up getting the M2 as I was replacing my E92 M3 track car. I compete in time trials so I wanted a more modern car that could easily out perform my E92 M3. The G87 is faster in stock form with 200tw tires and wider wheels. Its also an auto vs a 6mt so my fiance can drive and do events with me.

Got mine earlier this year, when I was 40.
Multiple reasons I got it: -I’ve been driving nothing but automatics for nine years and desperately wanted to get back into a (new) manual before my choices vanish even further. -I originally had a deposit for a Supra for nine months, but got tired of waiting and ordered an M2 after a test drive. (Glad I did since having that back seat allows my four year old to ride along with me). -The E46 M3 was my dream car growing up. G87 M2 is the spiritual successor, IMO. -My income has quadrupled in the past decade, so I can afford it comfortably. |

Turning 43 this month. Hoping to receive the M2 by next week. Been dreaming to get an M car since my early 20s. Will be my best worse financial decision!

36 and waiting on my order.
Came from 1990 240SX 1990 FC RX7 1995 FD RX7 2016 MX5 2019 MX5 RF Wanted something small but slightly more practical than the Miata. Also had to be turbocharged and manual. M2 just kept coming out on top for everything I was looking for. Been with Mazda long enough and wanted to switch it up a bit. Figured if I want to feel like a sardine again I’ll get an older Miata. |

Although I come from a varied line of cars, I've been on a bike (series of them, HD, ZX10R, S1KRR, RSV4) for the last 6 years. Until a crash. Too much damage to get back on, so I picked up a Dark Horse (had 4 Mustangs, including a Super Snake), but had always wanted to try the M2 (owned an M4 back in the day), which unless ordered to spec can be kind of elusive to find on the economy. Wasn't sure I really wanted to commit until recently when I found a Sapphire Black Auto very close to the spec I might have ordered. No turning back now...I'm on the back of the tiger. |
