I bought a Rome Slash 156 Wide at the beginning of the season. It's a great board all around. It's a good enough all mountain board without sacrificing too much in the park. I definitely love the board without a doubt. The only thing is, it just doesn't have enough for me in the park. I'm getting kinda bored with it. I want something that is not as stiff as the Slash. And reverse camber is a must. What do you guys think works well in the park?

P.S. I'm keeping the Rome for when I go to larger ski resorts. We don't have anything huge in Ohio so that's why I don't mind riding a board strictly for park.

Lol, that's not exactly in my price range. Plus it's not exactly a wide board either. The waist width on my Slash is 262mm, I believe.

Let's try to go wider and keep it at or below $500. Lol.

I rode a few Forums and I really didn't care for them. They could have just been shitty low line boards, I'm not sure.

I was thinking maybe a Burton X8. Not sure if I wanna drop that kind of cash without riding it first. I rode a Burton Blunt and absolutely loved that board. I wish Rome made a reverse camber board that I would like.

Check out www.sierrasnowboard.com. They have some good prices on a bunch of boards. If you can wait until about March or April (pretty much end of season) almost everything will be 50% off. Right now you can buy the Sierra Crew board for $250 free shipping. That board is based on the 2009 Burton Custom (which was selling for $280 at 50% off). It's a pretty solid board and many people would recommend it.

I was looking at that site earlier. I did see the Sierra Reverse Crew is on sale for $300. I don't know a lot about those boards but it seems pretty solid. I think it might be between that or the Burton Blunt. I plan on waiting until March or April, I'm not in a hurry since I already have a decent board.

Wide boards aren't best for the park, more for cruising and powder. If you're going to get one specifically for jumps, I'd go with a standard width board.

True. The only reason I want a wide board is because I absolutely hate toe/heel drag. I wear a size 11 shoe and I managed to squeeze into a pair of size 10 ThirtyTwos. Best boots ever made, btw.

It depends on the board. At size 11 you don't really need a wide board. IIRC at size 11 you need a 258-260mm wide board and that should accommodate you.

Edit: People on the burton forums said 255-265mm for size 11. It is a little wider than the usual boards but it depends on your stance and such. Some boards are just made wide so their "wide version" is even wider. My brother wears size 14 boots and there were only 2 boards that could even fit him. Talk about wide...

Some boards run skinner than others, so sometimes I don't need a wide board. My Rome is 262mm wide and I don't have any problems at all.

If 255-265mm is recommended for size 11, then I should be good around the 255mm mark since my boots are a size 10. Plus I ride with both feet out at -15 degrees.

Can't go wrong with a Burton. If you dont have any big shops in your town than the next time you go away try and demo a new Burton. Best way to get a feel for a new board.

Yeah I think you got it covered. Others suggested 255mm for size 11 too so with size 10 boots you're all good to go.

I don't remember the exact measurement for his board. The GNU board he has is 255mm for the 159cm regular. Since his is 162W I would imagine something like 268mm or 272mm. I know that it was about the only board they had left in stock for him as most boards there ran narrow. We got a chance to stop by the Sierra Snowboard store and check things out too. They were pretty helpful and chill. I think 3 or 4 people bought boots, boards and bindings there. That is probably my favorite place to buy snowboarding gear.

i have a capita horrorscope 155 and like it for park, its a little shady on big jumps because of its noodle like qualities

would like a GNU or stepchild next what about those end of season convention type things to get stuff cheap? that rome seems pretty sick already :P

Every time I see the Custom X, I want it more and more lol. The only thing I don't like about it, is it uses Burton's special bindings. I just bought new bindings this year...

Those conventions only come before the season starts (around november). If you check sierrasnowboard.com in March or April they usually have 50% off on all current boards. They have daily giveaways too (usually a board or bindings).

I just realized I basically did some free marketing for them but hell, I like telling people about stores I like (and stores I really hate). Their prices are good. I missed out on the Burton Custom ICS from them last year and when I looked it up online, the stores that had them in stock was charging like $350 (Sierra was $274.99 + tax). I'm just waiting it out and get a 2010 Burton Custom instead. The Lib Tech boards and the GNU pickle are pretty good boards as well. It's kind of like camera bags- you can't have just one.
