Is There A Reason Why Valvetronic Uses Pneumatic (Air Powered) Exhaust Valves ?

https://valvetronic.com/products/bmw...exhaust-system

Is this unique to Valvetronic, or do other manufacturers use pneumatic valves as well ?

What is the benefit ? More reliable , longer lasting , faster operation ?

Seems like most other exhaust valves I've come across are mechanical.

So it appears Valvetronic sells both the pneumatic, and the mechanical style of exhaust system.

The mechanical system requires a power unit box, the necessary wiring, the remote control, and the actual mechanical exhaust valve.

The pneumatic system requires a powered box unit which produces and sends the air, the necessary air tubing, the wiring to power the air pump box, the remote control, and the actual pneumatic exhaust valve.

To be honest, I would likely prefer the mechanical system. I would likely think that an air compressor box, air tube lines, and the pneumatic valves wouldn't be as simple and worry free compared to the electric powered mechanical valve system.

However, I'm sure either system would have very minimal issues. I'm just trying to understand why they offer the two different systems instead of just the mechanical.

Not to mention, the idea that factory OEM systems appear to be almost exclusively the mechanical variety of exhaust valves .....
