Yes, they officially used two million dollar missiles to down a weather balloon. It took two shots. Apparently, the balloon put up a fight. I still go with my theory that we humans are freaks in the universe. If other planets were on the same evolution track when the dinosaurs on Earth went extinct, they evolved into intelligent beings as cold-blooded reptiles and have a million year head-start on us warm-blooded humans. This is why they are way more advanced than us, and find us interesting to study.....

I think we're better off not knowing until it touches us directly. The reason is simple; if an extraterrestrial being/civilization is advanced enough to visit another planet, then they posses technology we aren't capable of defending against.

Always in the back of my mind that but they may not be here to work out when to invade just to visit and study if they are that far advanced.

Hard to believe that they would allow us to see them observing. Again, with such advanced tech they should easily be able to hide themselves from eyes such as ours. And with all the dissimilar sightings of dissimilar crafts all over the globe for so many years, it would lead a reasonable person to believe that we're talking about more than one type of alien. However, that too, is highly unlikely.

I think these questions will be answered conclusively, but not in my lifetime.

I think that UFO's are the 'red dot' from the aliens - they just like watching us freak out over them. If they were serious about saving this planet they would have wiped us out a while ago before we started seriously crapping the place up.

Humans, and the way they do things, could actually be something special in the universe, requiring intervention only when close to nuclear (or some other) annihilation.

It's a hard concept to grasp for many, but cereal killers and bombers are just as important to the growth of the world and humanity as doctors and scientists. If there are advanced beings beyond our planet, I have to believe that it's not just their technology that's advance, but their salient way of looking at things.

I don't believe everything I read in the press but there are just too many sightings and reports including those from airline pilots and fighter pilots which I'm sure you'll agree haven't been in short supply as well to put it down as something that should be ignored.

Sure, but to think that there are actual ships that have crashed and we have the debris seems very unlikely. If some alien form has made it to earth, it is likely using some sort of craft that can more or less shape shift and the current laws of physics as we know them don't apply. They sure as hell aren't using craft with lights, wings, and such
