Aftermarket Exhaust Rattles?
I'm just curious after watching a few installation videos on Youtube for aftermarket exhaust systems if some of these are known to rattle after a while?
Basically, it looks like you're cutting up your solid fully welded exhaust system and depending on how much you are cutting out you are adding multiple joints with nuts and bolts holding those joints together. Does that become a hassle to keep those joints tightened up over time? |

Cutting the exhaust and using clamps to connect it is not an issue. I have been doing it on my cars for over 15 years, and so have countless others.
As for the rattle, that depends on the exhaust you are getting. Some of them are known to cause this sound, others dont. Let me know which exhaust you are interested in and i will give you my honest opinion

Are you referring to valve rattles? Those seem to be caused by certain midpipe designs.

the rattle is either caused by certain midpipe designs or the the midpipe hitting the brace

Im running Mperformance exhaust with an active autowerke equal length mid pipe and on start up you can hear a slight rattle for a few seconds. Once the idle comes down it'll go away.

no one has mentioned it yet but the valves are a common problem causing rattling and noises. something about the valve spring either having too much or too little tension. i have heard this in several system. Looks easily fixed with some adjustment
