3 vs.5

Based on this information our 330i is using the same engine as the one in the 530i. That means our car is faster than the 5?

Yup, I think the posted 0-60 for the 330i beats the 530i by at least .1 sec. Not too much difference.

Should be right? Given the same power output and the 5 series being a bigger (heavier) car, that makes sense.

Sounds nice and stuff.. but the HP numbers don't support this "engine technology" to be ALL THAT.

Due to the straight 6 design, it's hard to up the displacement therefore even harder to get more horsepower without FI. It's unbelieveable that they can do this much with a 3 litre.

comparatively speaking the 5er doesn't weigh that much more than the 3er, and thus the rather insignificant difference in straight line acceleration.

Oh, I am a newbie ......go easy

No, its just a slight change to the E46 318i engine

It does have Valvetronic though ( they were some of the first to have )

530i 0-62mph 6.5s
330i 0-62mph 6.3s

530i 50-75mph 6.6s
330i 50-75mph 6.6s

Weight difference is only 10Kg ( 22 pounds )

So if you have a driver that over 22 pounds heavier than the one in the 330i the 5 Series is lighter
