Unless I am missing something, there is no way you are getting a BMW oem core at that price. I have seen fitment issues too many times on non-manufacture core items. I would rather pay more to know it all fits/mounts perfectly. To each their own, I guess...

I'll let you know when it arrives. I spoke to multiple people who have one prior to ordering and they had nothing but positive things to say about it. Not everything has to cost several thousand dollars to be quality. The prices on the site you linked are ridiculous.

That looks like the wheel but I can't seem to find the heated steering wheel button.

AutoID are now selling a custom version of the LCI wheel from TRE that looks pretty darn close to the original.

I emailed them to ask about compatibility with manual G87 models and the placement of the heated steering wheel button, and was sent this:

"Yes these wheels will work with a manual vehicle. The heated steering function button will be at the bottom of the steering wheel to the rear of the M badges in the images much like the Porsche heated steering function button."

I'd be thrilled if the OEM wheel uses the same approach for the heated steering wheel button as the TRE model, but I suspect BMW will just relegate it to iDrive alongside the other climate functions.

As tempting as it is, I don't know if I can mentally justify dropping an additional $1k to update the steering wheel for a car that hasn't even been delivered yet. Unfortunately, I'm moving from NYC (where I don't own a car) in March and can't wait for the LCI refresh without spending an absurd amount of money to rent a corolla for 4-5 months.

Good info, thanks for sharing! I also emailed them yesterday about the wheel. I love the alcantara, but it's tough to keep clean and looking good. I do not like perforated leather so I asked them if they could make a smooth leather wheel with a red stripe. I'll let you know what they say.

This is the one I like - I was concerned about there being too much CF. So I am glad to have you be the guinea pig on this one. I will await your review. I think this carbonized site is the vendor one of the other active forum members had trouble with. Also waiting to hear your review along those lines, too!

That was me. The first wheel arrived with the M stitching colors in the wrong order. I contacted them immediately & then it turned into 6-months of me having to repeatedly contact them before a new, correct wheel arrived. The wheel is excellent, the vendor was a pain.

Check out Monaco Motorsports. I just installed this wheel in my wife's X3MC.

The Monaco is a nice one, too! Similar quality to the carbonize? The CF looks nice on it, too. You took a great photo of it - some photos I've seen overemphasize the gloss/weave & it doesn't look right. This one looks very natural.

Monaco's is on sale too - with coupon, it drops to $617?! NICE PRICE!!

Lol, no worries . The wheel from Monaco Motorsports is the same quality as the one I purchased from Cvrbonized (prob made by the same manufacturer). The only difference was the heating wire harness didn't come out of the bottom like it does on mine (like oem), so I had to finagle the wires a little bit to get them under the steering wheel trim. There was also an extra wire, not sure what it was for.

Checked the heating function and it works really quickly. The Monaco wheel is a little thicker than the one in my M2 at the 3 & 9 positions, that groove is a little deeper as well. My wife says she loves the feel of it compared to the oem wheel.

M2 wheel on top, X3MC wheel on bottom.
