Mapping Sport Instrument Cluster Gauge to M Mode Buttons

Does anyone know if there is a way to map the cluster gauge modes to the M buttons? It seems like if I want to switch my drive mode settings and change the cluster gauge to the "Sport" setting, I currently have to complete two sets of steps. Preferably, I'd love the car to just default to the Sport gauge cluster every time it turns on.

I think you'll find it was discussed in this thread as one of @JustimHemi's gripes. https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...light=M+button

yeah pretty "awesome" how you get your settings/screens set up, and then BMW thinks it's best to reset to a default every time you restart. not sure if other high-end cars do this. first-world problems I guess.

The "reason" sport display cant be mapped to the M buttons from what I was told by BMW is because it disables lane departure etc. GOOD. Ive wanted lane departure disabled since day 1 🤣

MDM also disables driver assistance I think, which you can map to the M buttons. Just silly excuses from BMW to be honest.

I’m hoping they crack the coding for these things soon.

If that's what they're saying then they're lying and just making shit up.

It was an oversight, plain and simple. Own it. Fix it.

I'm waiting patiently for bimmercode to release Idrive8 updates to see what it comes with. I have a list of things to suggest to them, such as this, but don't want to keep pestering them while they work. I'll wait to see what it can and can't do and suggest further improvements from there.

Speaking of bimmercode. Have you been able to code out fake engine noise?

I haven't tried that yet because I've read mixed results elsewhere.

I like my fake engine noise, but concerned about wear and tear on my subwoofer!

Ironically I also enjoy my start/stop feature which I thought would be the first thing I bypassed. Mileage is around 22-23mpg when I commute to work, 16-17mpg when on the streets.

I didn’t even know auto start stop was a thing on modern manual cars. Scared me the first time I got to a light and the engine shut off. Thought I had managed to stall the engine and brick the car. Lmao.
